Driving my unreliable rx8
Yes its easy to spend that, very easy. there are many nice things of a good fitting, but a 5k ss ctx-10 is not nessecary to have a good running system.
As for fittings, spending 2k is easy for a car like Dannobre's, I have spent close to that, quality fittings are expensive. And hydraulic store fittings are even more unless you are using no name ****. One quality Parker -10 90 degree fitting can cost $30.00 easy. My local Parker supplier knows me by name.

I would love to show you the car in person and that way you can come on here and tell everyone you saw a fully functional "complete" RX8 LS1 swap in person. Based on what you said and how high you set your expectations with nothing to back it up i assume you are blowing smoke. I go to SAR all the time and would love to meet you there. Maybe even a trackdays once i get balacing and suspension dialed in. You made it personal with that clusterfuck comment. I intend to make you eat those words. I may not blast your *** down the track but i will show you a completed swap. I cant do anything about those canadians who like to use big words. Im in Austin. Not too far from ya.

according to 9krpmrx8, Lsxrex your lsxRx-8 will never be "complete" until it has a completely stock drive train that makes no power and needs to be rebuilt every 110,000km but has no cel's then its "complete" oh and make sure you spend $30,000 or else your doing it "wrong"

I love all this talk about rebuilding every 110k km....
I have 111,000 miles (178637km) on my Renesis. Original clutch and motor. Did I mention I'm boosted yet? Wait, I forgot to mention up until 8-9k miles ago(when I boosted) I saw monthly track duty with HPDE's. For me and many others, your argument is invalid. If my motor went today, it served it's purpose and lived a long hard life.

Get your license and learn to drive then you might know how to keep a clutch and motor. I will admit enough people have had engine problems, but theres little clutch issues on this car.
Of course you probably went with the exedy stage 1 to increase power then went thorough multiple of them.

The original intent of the thread is a good one, but some don't seem to be able to participate in that vein without getting defensive.
It is after all an RX8 enthusiasts forum, with the rotary being a primary feature of the vehicle.
To expect to try to convince members of the supposed inferiority of it is folly.
But then reasonable judgement does not appear to be a strength of some.

my renny is rock solid but a deer totaled my car. engine is one of the strongest na motors ive driven in an 8 (except boosted ones) so whats this rebuild every whatever metric #s you keep throwing out?
btw 9ks car is one of the cleanest here, he cut no corners and did it right. maybe by trial and error but he did it right and has been a big help to me when modding my car

You obviously have no clue who or what you are talking about.
Ignorant remarks like that are why people like you get so little respect on this forum.
Good luck with your project.

ls swaps are fooking garbage. if you want tq its an isuzu v6 for the win
anyone who really wants to frankenfuckswap an 8 needs to pm kickerfox and become his best friend/lover. nobody knows more about throwing random parts at a bs swap from 28 different car companies than him

But actually yes, not only could I get 24mpg without much effort, I got a 8,330 mile (around the country) average of 19.9 including traffic in LA, San Fransisco, Chicago, Denver, New Jersey, and New York, light to light in San Fransico, sustained 100mph+ in empty northern Nevada, and 32 hours of driving the Pacific Coast Highway where nothing is straight and speed vary from 20mph to 60mph.
I bet you wouldn't believe that I even got 27mpg on 4 back to back tanks of gas when i concentrated on hypermilling to see what I could get to.
That's pretty hypocritical.

- Starts normally, and doesn't require prayers or tricks to get it started
- Idles normally without prayers or tricks
- All electronics left in the car that are connected still work and without warning lights
- The car actually sits correctly on the suspension (the 5.0L swap missed this mark badly)
- You can put another 20,000 miles on it minimum without a single swap related piece failing, including fittings, hoses, vacuum leaks, fluid leaks, bolts breaking, etc... This isn't hard if you don't take shortcuts.
- If someone else were to buy the car from you, they wouldn't have any quirks to deal with, and they could reasonably troubleshoot any issues that eventually show up (because nothing lasts forever)
- All wiring is correctly fused, spliced, shielded, and secured, and shouldn't be routed crazily all over the car
- The car can legitimately pass safety inspection (bribing someone doesn't count)
- The car can pass emissions without bribing. You can be cheating the system, like with OBD2 CEL blocking, but if an inspection agent won't pass you without bribery, you can't sell that to someone else.
- There is nothing about the car that you would have to explain to someone how to get it to work. It just works normally.
Did I miss anything?
The list is different if it is a swap for a track only car, but that hasn't been under discussion.

yea you missed the part where you're supposed to disclaim that you spent a tonne of money on a car that was totally not worth it and know feel that the only way to justify this is to say that the renny is superior to all other motors when the fact is you should have just swapped, but know your in to deep :/
and if someone is able to only spend $5000 on a swap you disclaim it on technicalities lol
"In Complete!"
this is you bowling
"nice strike,,,, but you're toe crossed the line DOESN'T COUNT! DOESN'T COUNT!

That isn't at all what we are saying, but since your grasp on reality is clearly suspect, I don't know that it is possible for you to understand what we are saying, regardless of how we put it.
Hmm. Have you met my soon-to-be-ex-wife? You two would get along great!
