no you have to change the steering rack (the whole thing) .... yup no modding in the engine bay :it has enough room for this straight 6 cylinder ... new mounts , an adaptive plate between engine and gear box and you are good to go .....
now i have swapped my rx8 with a n/a 1jzge .... will post videos and pics soon

first it is not straight forward .... secondly its NOT a DIY ..... there is a shop that does all the swaps ... though i will try to post step by step pics etc as much as possible in the future

Hey from Jamaica.

This swap is very encouraging. I have a '04 with a blown motor and I've been toying with the 1JZ swap. Can you post some engine bay pictures?

Can you shed some light on the traction control issues?

Also, stiffer springs up front can help compensate for the heavy nose.

Hey guys just came across this forum. Am another member from Pakistan and we formed our own club of rx8 recently running original rotary engines. We are a group who meet regularly for drives and help one another in trouble shooting issues members are facing with their 8s, some of us also take part in an autocross event that's help every month here, feel free to check out our Facebook page rx8club Karachi. We are always posting questions about issues with rx8s and would love your input. Thanks guys

FYI the Ford Mustang rack is pretty easy to put in an rx-8. It's also dirt cheap. You have to drill two holes through the subframe and weld in two pieces of tubing that the Mustang rack will slide on to. Then two long bolts hold it in place. The Mustang tierods need to be cut about 1" shorter and the RX-8 rod ends will thread right on. A new steering shaft will have to be made. See my v6 swap for more info. I apologize for all the trolling you'll have to tollerate in that thread but the info is in there somewhere.
