Just wanna say that I'm not trying to start a war or anything here, we could go all day posting videos. Trying to show the other side of the argument because no one else will. I love both engines, they both have ups and downs and everyone will have their own reasons for loving/hating either engine. Just trying to show you that by your logic of "whos faster is better" the 2JZ wins and not the LS1 like you seem to think.

And this tC is relevant how? It's moving down the track so quickly because of the weight of the car (of lack therof). That's all in the chassis and not the engine.

An Ariel Atom only has 300bhp, but it's damn fast. Why? Because it weighs nothing! Would you say that's the best engine in the world? I wouldn't.

Put a turbo LS1 in the tC and watch it run better. Sorry, but there's no replacement for displacement. 2JZ = roll racing = fail.

I like 2JZ better, it might not be a 100% build by Toyota, but Toyota gave out the funds to Germans so they can finish it. Its still Toyota's, just finishing it in different hands.

Tunning is very different from US and Japan. in Japan they tune 2JZs to have very usable power. I never seen the dyno numbers but I've seen it in action, that supra was flying like a ****.

Of course I've seen LS1s too, they're almost everywhere

Good thing about LS1 - Easy to obtain @ low price, easy to make power
2JZ - Can make Very high power, Stable.

Like I said, The 2JZ is the "faster engine". Anyone else says different then they are wrong, plain and simple. The fastest 2JZ powered car is faster than the fastest LS1 powered car. That is what I am trying to prove to SlayerRX8. I think I did that quite well, and anyone wan't to prove me wrong go ahead an try, but there isn't anything with an LS1 in it that is faster than that Titan Motorsports 2JZ powered Scion.

If you wan't to say an engine is better solely based on 1/4 mile times, you better get the facts straight.

You proved that a lighter car will outrun a heavier car. How does that have anything to do with the engine?

An MKIV Supra and an LS1 Camaro have nearly identical curb weights (3500 lbs). So if they are both at full weight, that takes the weight out of the equation, doesn't it? The full weight LS1 powered vehicle is faster than the full weight 2JZ-GTE powered vehicle.

If you think that "tC" (and I use the name loosely) in the video weighs anything close to 3500 lbs, you are kidding yourself.

 

If you think that world record camaro weighs anything close to 3500 pounds then you are just as much kidding yourself as you think I am.

Let me remind you, you started the argument about the LS1 being better SOLEY based on 1/4 mile times. You did not mention car, weight, power or anything else, just that it was fast in the 1/4 mile which makes it better. I did the same thing with the 2JZ as the powerplant, no weight, car, power or anything else was mentioned. I set out to prove your original argument wrong, and clearly did. Pretty hypocrytical to say that my argument isn't valid when it uses the same set of rules as yours.

Maybe next time you should define the argument beforehand instead of changing it everytime you are proven wrong.

On the street the LS1 is the hands down winner over the 2JZ in terms of drivability and powerband. It's not even close. Arguing which one has the fastest overall record is like arguing which fighter jet tops out the fastest. It tells us nothing relevant when it comes to the real world.

I think it's funny how a 3500 lb Camaro is mentioned for comparison reasons but a 2600 lb Corvette isn't.

 

Why limit yourself to the LS1? The LS9 will be out next year with over 600hp STOCK with a WARRANTY and will probably let the Vette break into the 10's STOCK which is faster then 98% of the most heavily modified street legal supras...

I'd say put an LS1 in it since I haven't been in a car with a 2jz in it. My cousin has a Trans Am with an slp loudmouth exhaust and said he was door to door with a turbocharged RX8 one night on the highway in Houston. Supra's seem a little over rated due to Fake and the Furious. Not saying the 2jz is a bad engine but from experience I'd definitly choose the LS1 over it.

The point of an rx8 is to be rotary. RX=Rotary!!! THe best swap is the 3 Rotor Twin Turbo 20BEW! Best engine from Mazda production line. Although Mazdaspeed has built the 4 rotor!! Also seen in the Mazda Furai and the 787B. The fastest rotary runs 6.9 in the 1/4 mi, with 2 rotors alone. Not bad for a 1.3L compared to V8's or Supras Straigh 6's. Youtube.... 20b rx8. Ive seen 3 rotor Rx8's but not 4 rotor Rx8's. Seen Rx7 4 rotor! I know u this topic is either LS1 or JZ. I'd pick JZ havent seen a JZ Rx8, simple... You gotta keep in JDM!
