I'm back in town for a day or 2 but no time to work/play with the 8. Gotta fly out to laguna seca monday for some track events. Should be back and out driving the 8 around mid november. If they have a caffeine and octane show in december I'm planning on taking it up there.

hey Kuntz98--will you be at home the first w/e in december?
Our little club will be in attendance to a big event at Road Atlanta that w/e and it would be really great if you could bring the car over.
Flying out to Laguna? What a life--but someone has to do it--right?

Its a fun job but can be a pain some times. I should be able to make it out there. What is going on at Road Atlanta?

End of the year NASA track event. The Ga RX* club considers it the homecoming event and we usually have a fairly big crowd.
http://www.nasa-se.com/i/events/2012Nov30.jpg
many many RX8's, a couple rx7 v/8 conversions, and others, many are driving, some are photo geeks, plenty of food, drinks, warm tent, a big RV--you know track junkies set up--but nice. Even some wives come along before then go on to the Mall of Ga.
Please come over-we would really like to see you and your car.

it got slowed down again. sounds like more b.s. but... the last part from Hinson didnt fit correctly and got shipped back. Then when they were ready to send it back they told Chris it was not ready. As of today Chris told me that he should recieve the part back sometime this week and he can go back to finishing. But... it wont be before Christmas anymore.
Sorry for no posts, but there hasnt been much to update without being able to continue the build without necessary parts

Sadly this type of update is very common now days. I hope they get it back and get back to working on it. Good Luck.

Thanks for the update. It might be fruitful to find yourself a mechanical engineer/machinist or custom fabricator to make up for Hinson's blocking. I've known a few who could work miracles with custom fabrication in a short period of time.

We discussed it... but Chris is working to maintain a relationship with Hinson. I think he'd rather Hinson understand how to fabricate the entire kit for future builds rather than parts of it, even if it's been almost 6 months since we started. I'm not gonna complain, I owe this dude for even attempting to do this for me. Trust me I dont think he likes the fact either that a project he quoted to be done in 3 months is taking over twice as long, but its not really his fault either...

Nice.

This is the level of commitment we need to make swaps like this easier in the future. Thank him for pushing Hinson as they need to be.

I suspect you are going to have many further delays depending on Hinson. They have a reputation for being unreliable at gettings things done in a timely and complete manner. They are talented for sure, but not so hot at managing projects and delivering.

I made a $600 clutch order through them recently and they simply "forgot" to send one of the parts. I gave them a couple weeks and when I called the guy sounded lost and didnt seem to have any way to confirm what they had and had not shipped. He was nice and took care of it....but still.....

Blackbriar2189: I'm sure you have figured this out but there will be many more things that "Pop" up and put you back on your build. They did for me, perfect example is I got everything in and drove the car but a random "un-explainable" miss started popping up and had to go through everything to find it. It still shows up from time to time. Plus after its going there will undoubtedly be things that you will want to change in order to make things better or easier. I finally got the tool I've been needing to re-thread my inner tie rod in order to finish my rack swap. It seems as though this project will really never be done and I will always be fixing/changing things as time goes on. Best advice I can give you is be persistent and make sure you do everything the way you want it the first time. Hopefully we will see your car going this christmas, it would be one hell of a present to yourself.

When this swap is done, what will and won't work? Airbags, OEM gauges, A/C, etc?

This could be a real money maker for the right builder if the car was OEM perfect other than the LSx under the hood.

Almost every builder doing this for someone else will end up blowing the budget and have to do back peddling with their customers. I bet you doing regular maintenance pays more then this!
