You say that you paid for a tow truck and it proves you aren't broke. I know plenty of broke people that get their car towed. They can't afford an engine swap either.

yea im also not employed yet, dude. give me a friggin break.

you're trying to burn me for doing anything in the first place, without having enough to finish. I DONT CARE. I WILL.

Quit being an *** hole, at least im trying! Im willing to bet almost none of you have done what I have done and called and scheduled meetings with shops about this specific swap. Most people that have even attempted have done it on their own.

I do not know anyone on this forum that has done as much as I have to work with Hinson so long in the first place, second guessed the decision, and then turned around and found someone else that would actually even listen to me.

this is my dream. if all you can do is make smart remarks, why would I want to show you how I did it if we do make it happen?

love your car J8635621, and that base model 8. I always thought the front lip on that model made the car look a lil less manly and a lot more womanly.

I thought putting some f-ugly rims (maybe spacers???), an exhaust, and a spoiler would help that problem.

...nah, they dont help either.

Congrats on doing so much with your rx8 that you can be a douche on the forums.

well, it has been sad to see some of you guys post. Sad enough I don't care to post here at all anymore. I appreciate the people that responded with relevant information, but if all some of you guys can do is bring a guy down, it's not worth sharing what happens with you if the only time you show me any respect is when it's done.

My guy will take what is worth it from this thread and we will work with Hinson to begin this project as soon as I am ready.

If anyone would like to know what is going on with the car, you can PM me and we can talk further. It seems the only place worth talking to people without others coming in and walking all over the thread is in private. We can always use advice and help, beyond what has already been given to me. If you want to really help me, please message me.

No matter what any of you say I will never quit.

OP, what shop is doing the work? Also, are they interested in doing this to create some kind of install kit for the rest of us? I understand this means more time to get more details hammered out, or are they simply just trying to support you, the customer? Honestly, I could care less if it's a one off, that's already been done. What the community needs is someone who is willing to support this type of swap in the future. What does the shop have to say about that?

OP, we all have dreams, but you got to know when you can actually afford to make your dream come true.

I hope you get this project done but I also recommend really thinking about the cost of this.

Do you have another DD to drive? Most of the guys on this forum who have FI have another car to drive. Of course there are a lot of them who dont but you are starting a project that has no real determined completion date and I would hate for you to lose your car fighting to make a dream come true.

I only got through the second page of this thread before I had to leave but good luck briar, later on tonight i'll read the rest of the posts. don't let everyone get you down, its not their car and honestly its not their place to tell you about how you're wrong/stupid/immature/etc. for taking this project on. This forum is a place for enthusiasts, not life coaches. That being said, I see where they're coming from, I've been on this forum for two years and have found almost all the information i've ever needed using the search button and never have to post. I think they just get cranky seeing the same posts repeating themselves. Again good luck and I'll definitely anxiously await this build...

It's a public forum bro, people give their opinions, that's what it's about. The biggest STFU will be when you post up that the build is finished. But the odds are against you getting this done in a big way.

Here is a thought exercise; in this particular project what would you guys think to be the biggest element that would help this project along or bring the "odds" in the OP's favor?
Money?
Ambition?
Fabrication skills?
Name it.
this one is too easy.
with enough money you need NOTHING else.
with some skills/knowledge, you need less money.
ambition without either gets you nothing.

some people....................
I dont know whats makes people think this is an impossible thing to do. Its just an engine and a car. You can make it cost 100K, or you can probably have just a running swap car for the cost of a really good FI package and tune.
Kudos to the OP for chasing his dream--bad mojo for those critizing him.
Think about this--speedsource drops 3 rotors into the rx8 all the time--whats so different about the ls swap?
The fact is--no one has really done the work yet. Thats all.

if the op didnt wanna get bashed he should of waited till the car was actually in the shop, then posted pics of his car getting worked on and pics of the engine thats gonna power it. instead he goes on ranting about how he could afford it with nothing to prove it. pics or GTFO.

Its not that its an impossible swap. Its that the OP is paying some shop to figure it out with an open checkbook. ....and he doesnt have a checkbook.

Respect is not earned by getting your car towed to a shop and starting a thread saying what you are gunna do , sorry .

what you guys think you may know about my build does not matter to me anymore, cuz you dont know what I am doing with my money and everything else involved. I dont sit on my butt all day and respond to people's posts in a thread (I am not that intelligent and I am not someone people look to for help with our cars), when I am on this specific website I am looking for information to help myself and possibly even others. Some of you just sit on here and be judgmental, it's pathetic. You guys are too bent on seeing results, and Im barely breaking the ice.

I posted with eagerness thinking many of you guys would be more supportive than you have been... holy **** was I wrong. It's no wonder Hinson quit trying so hard on the conversion, Who in the hell would want to deal with some of you people.

Ive been taught to treat everyone with respect, Brettus, regardless of my impression of them. I never asked for respect cuz I 'towed my car.'
I asked for respect because Im at least trying. That is something most of this community cannot say for themselves.

Thanks again to everyone else that looked beyond the obvious and even took steps to introduce yourselves to me and offered a helping hand. It'll keep me from straight up deleting my username and staying off the site for good.

-Robert

in this particular project its all about money. he admits that he does not have the expertise to do this himself so if anything limits what can happen, its going to be funds. haha i guess thats true with any project though haha

Apparently my previous post went entirely over your head. You created this situation by posting up all the intimate details of your life. As irrelevant as they may be, you introduced everybody to those details and once you do that it's all fair game now. Next maybe you will be the wiser to just stick to the build facts only and keep your personal details private. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Live and learn the hard way.
