Seems like a plan! are you gonna retain A/C? cruise control?

Also I really don't think you could really use all 900hp on the street lol like on a daily basis. but hey if you want to do it by all means, more power to you! and this would be a sick build!

My best friend once built a GTO that dyno'd just shy of 850rwhp on a mustang dyno. It was his daily driver, however, he usually stayed out of boost for the most part (he drives like an old granny). From what I recall (this was a few years ago and Shane goes through cars like normal people do underwear) he only ever had one issue with it and it was something I broke haha. Then again, he's weird and the same guy who built and daily drove (even across the country) a 500+ awhp stock appearing Forester and a 650+ awhp STI driven on hoosiers A6s just because.

To the OP, I say go for it.

My wife drives a 800hp g8 that's fairly reliable too. All of my street cars are 1500hp+. So im kind of used to building quick street cars. I think I'll probably build this rx8, then sell it. I'm not sure yet.

My point is, I'm pretty sure I can put a ls3 in an rx8 and make a 900hp streetcar.

Oh I dont doubt you, anything can be done w/ time and money. You just typically dont see 900hp and "daily driver" in the same mix lolol

op how about some interior pics of your "streetcars"? are you gonna keep the gauges, t/c, eps, abs in the 8 or just use the shell. i think your building drag cars that you can techicanly drive on the street.

hell i dont dd my 8 and most people here that know me or my car wouldnt dd it because of my exhaust. thats not the reason i dont dd it but it would be a deal breaker for a lot of guys here

No t/c, or abs, I really don't see the point..... but yes on the gauges.
My wife's g8 (800) handles great as a dd, her saleen (500hp) handles great also as her dd. I'll post a few others we use for actual daily driving. The ones I posted yes, are technically street cars, but I wouldn't daily drive them.

i was asking because the 8s computer is tied into everything which is where a lot of people fail with swaps unless swapping a different rotary. the electronics can be a huge issue as can the steering

Not quite true.

I see that all the time from a few friends, mainly Evo guys. The running joke is that anything over 400whp is a "daily driver", with the bigger the number the more "daily driver" it is, and it takes less than 400whp to be a serious track car. Largely it ends up being true, because the "daily driver" ends up with a very large off-boost rev range to work with at a normal 100-150whp. The more peak power, the larger the off-boost rev range to work with.

Usually, those cars are also missing the supporting mods to actually deal with the side effects of that power at any sustained duration. So they are actually only good for daily driver use, because they can't handle anything else. Drag passes don't really count, since the duration is so short.

Plus there is always the whole frequently seen case where that peak power is on a dyno, it is turned down on the street and never actually used at all. So people just drive around with a 100-150whp car that cost them $50k+ and if strapped to a dyno in a controlled environment can make a big number.

Ok, let's get this straight. What exactly do you guys each consider a daily driver?

i would consider a dd something you can/would drive in any weather including snow (where i live) or take a long road trip in. i dont see your drag cars as a dd

It doesn't really matter, as noted in the other thread

Your goals and standards will be different from ours, and we could probably argue it till we are blue in the face and we will still have our own opinions.

Typically though, DD means livable on the street, in poor weather as well as good weather, not exhausting to drive, passes local emissions and safety regs, doesn't **** people off that you drive by, etc... It's not a numeric thing, and typically most modded cars easily blast out of DD range. My MSM is my DD, but it is NOT "a DD" because it IS exhausting to drive and there are an increasing range of weather conditions that I really shouldn't have it on the road in.

It's a matter of perspective though, weather is less of a factor in San Diego than it is in New England, clutch force is less of an issue in Kansas than it is in NYC, etc...

Just like it's a matter of perspective on what qualifies as "handles good". No one here will agree with you on the G8 or Mustang Saleen "handling good", because our perspective starts at such a higher standard of handling than those cars have.

Everyone has their own goals and standards though, and as long as you know them and pursue them, good for you. I always say that it's a good thing we are all different.
