Ah there's a welder there handy so lets keep going till it breaks and then rebuild it stronger

If going again I'd get a Tilton 75 series, bought about €500 ($620) of extra fittings and lines for the pedal box and hydro plus fitting on top of the cost of them !

I'd have to check but I think they were 0.6 fella... Brakes I'll have to get a 0.8, only have a 0.7 atm but thats cause I'll be using Brembo 8pot calipers.

Well last night I was searching on goopgle images for stanced RX8's while herself was watching some soap on tv and spotted a pic of my car, looked at the addy and it said speedhunters, was like nah, can't be my car, must check out the build, low and beholed it was, Mike Garrett from SH had spotted the build on Driftworks and taken the time to read the whole build thread and post up a feature on the car, to I'm happy would be an understatement, nearly hit the roof, even sent a few texts, sorry lads LoL Mostly positive comments too so well chuffed. Huge thanks to Mike for the feature and nice to see Mr. Stone getting a mention too for his work on the car... Can't wait to get stuck into it now and get her finished Check it out :

Nice build, I'm in somehow the same process. But I'm going with a BMW I6 engine.

What steering rack are you gonna use instead of the rx8 eps?

Thanks fella...

So I have had these Brembo's for around 6 / 7yrs and never fitted them to anything, decided it was time to get them off the shelf, they used to a demo set for display but I had to have them even though I'd no car suitable for them, anyways they will be clamping onto 356mm discs using Ferodo DS3000 Plus 03 Brake Pads. So the car is booked into Trackday Performance for Aug 9th, in the meantime I will be bringing the car home to try get a few bits wrapped up on the build... Here are a few pic's of the brakes that I've had for ages :

So John sent me on a few more pic's of the mounts and bits that got some primer, here you can really see the detail gone into the intercooler / rad rear mounts and also the way the RX7 rack was mounted.

The rack used the inner arms of the RX7 but the outers of the RX8.

Decided it would be better to weld some of the ducting to the body of the car so that when painted it would look cleaner.

Thats all for now, next is collect the shell and prep the engine bay and interior for paint

Nice job so far man, that V-mount looks amazing.

I'm in the process of stripping out my car right now and was wondering if you know how much that rear deck weighs? I saw in one of your photos that you cut it out.

Looking at the stripped-out interior pics on the first page of this thread makes me realize it must truly suck to drive the RHD version of a LHD car. The exhaust tunnel is in the way of your left foot, the handbrake isn't next to the passenger so it can't keep the passenger's leg from interfering with the shift lever, and the low-gear shift gates are further away from the driver so it's harder to aim properly during time-critical low-gear shifts. Glad I live in an LHD country.

Its a JAPANESE car,

JAPAN IS RHD,

Sorry bud but your driving a LHD version of a RHD car,

having the handbrake where it is for RHD is great for handbrake entry drifts,

And if you have issues finding the low-gears, then you need to learn how to drive a manual again.

And i the exhaust tunnel is not in the way of the left foot, not even close

Not exactly but from talking with John (cage fabricator) he said it weighed a nice bit, have you a build thread on your RX8 ? I'd be interested in the route you have taken with your car also

I will be using a RaceTechnology stand alone dash unit for all of the above Zeno.

Cut and weld my good man, I'm sure he could but would it not be cheaper to have it done locally to you ?

Cheers mate and your username really says it all

Sorry folks that I haven't posted any updates in a while but hope to change that very soon. At the moment the car is in TDP having the Brembo's fitted however this in itself has been a task, the calipers are so big that it would have affected the lock on the car if I was to space them back from the wheel to allow fitment without a spacer. Being a double wish bone set up has its challenges and this is certainly one with big brakes. The stock position of the caliper was to remain however this now meant spacing of the Work Meister in order to clear the rear of the spoke. The space needed ? 55mm or just over 2" inches, now in turn this will have a knock on a effect where by I will more than likely have to do some modification to the footwell but sure thats only a cutting dish and a welder Lastly it looks like the car will be really wide already running an 18 x 11JJ up front and now a 55mm spacer on top of that, should make for some interesting arch work coupled with the 13.5JJ rears the car should have some presence, next up back to Mr. Stones for some more fab work...

Thanks for the info man.

I was going to start a build thread and start from the beginning when I got the car but my desktop computer decided it no longer wanted to live and went out with a zap. Now all I have is my little netbook. I have a lot of pictures on there so once I fix it I'll most likely start one. My car is going to the fabricator in a week to get the roll cage done and seats mounted.

You should do mate and don't forget to link me, I'd be interested in your development process also. Make sure your there with the steering wheel, seats and pedal box(if you use one) so that its all built around your individual ergonomics, we might all be the same height but our driving styles are usually different and being comfortable in your car is very important...

While I'm waiting on the car to come back from TDP having the brakes fitted and custom spacers machined up, I got to putting the seats back together, the dash all in one piece and the harness a bit of a clean. Have a sparco snap off kit and wheel in the RX7 that I'm gonna try use on this so fingers crossed as its a cool bit of kit

Next up is the wiring, fuel lines and fitting a single wiper for the front windscreen. Looking forward to getting this all back together even if the car itself won't be ready until March...
