sub forum for engine swaps
could there be a different forum for engine swaps? i guess this could be a little premature but people are starting to change engines more and more or at least posting about it. i guess the v8 swap will probably be next. just a suggestion thanks. jason

Right now we don't have a high enough number of people doing swaps to warrant it. The 7forum has a section like that but they also have alot of people doing swaps. If it gets to that point here in the future we could possible consider it but with only a coupld of peope doning them here it is too premature right now.

swap time
what a stylish car ,end off and here in the uk their are loads of em with bad lumps, a 04 will be 3000 pounds sterling running and clean ,many at 1500 running, and a rebuild is 1500 ,do the maths not worth it ,even for a hobby mechanic.and yet 700 will buy you a rx with a dead engine we were looking to put any combustion engine in one, GM v6 omega plus gearbox, rover kv6 engine ,rover v8 with rover 5 speed on carbs ,mazda mx v6. any for v6 .even a diesel 4 pot for a laugh .we may have been lucky i think ,recon our salvage one is a bad clutch see you tube "cornishrob123"
some one could make a lot of money doing conversion kits .

I've gotten to the point, thanks to all the LS swaps on the 7 forum, that I truly hate any and all piston motor swaps into an originally rotary powered car. Another rotary into a rotary car? No problem. A 2JZ, LSX, or anything else with pistons? Nope. It's like putting your biological child up for adoption so you can adopt a fatter kid in their place.

like it or not--its going to start happening.
it does make it a different car. imho the looks of the car just doesnt coordinate with the sound a v/8 makes--a nice 6 cyl--yes i can see that.

oh I like the rotary engine--still running one. Its a challange to understand. Its devious. Its a good engine.
But, engine swaps are inevidable. Look how many rotaries have been placed into other cars?
Miatas, home builts, airplanes, boats, jet ski's, go karts-etc etc all have had rotaries in them---for a good reason.
Why should this car be immune to that? Hot Rodders are Hot Rodders--who the heck knows what they may do. A turbo diesal would be interesting as would the mustang v/6.
Sorry--I dont believe cars have souls--there is nothing special about any car. It's just a car.
I am not a purist. Different strokes for different folks--I guess.

But this is a "RX8" forum, so whatever has to do with the RX8 series whether it be a rotary engine swap or piston, it has it's place here on rx8club.com(<that's my personal opinion and I think it's quite logical)

ok now i have a new engine in and yes it is cool great blah blah ,but if I could not find a lump for 600 sterling i would have had to go piston engine .but yes Im in love with rotors now mine is for sale as been offered a cheap one .

It would just be full of coulda, woulda, shoulda dreamer threads because in 9 years since the RX8 came out there have only been a very rare few that were actually followed through on and completed. Of those even less were done right. The typical dreamer has no idea what they're getting into as far as effort and eventual cost are concerned.
