[Olympia] Man Steals RX-8 then tries to steal shoes too
(from : http://159.54.227.3/apps/pbcs.dll/ar...508250360/1006 )
OLYMPIA
An Olympia man was behind bars Wednesday after he allegedly eluded police, attempted to steal a pair of shoes and assaulted an officer who was trying to restrain him.
The suspect, Curtis M. Sword, 27, was arrested Tuesday outside the Fred Meyer store at 700 Sleater-Kinney Road, according to Lacey police reports. He was booked on suspicion of third-degree assault and possession of stolen property.
Police arrested Sword while looking for a suspect in a chase that started when a Mazda RX-8 blew past an officer monitoring traffic at 22nd Avenue Southeast and Judd Street. The suspect eluded the officer and later ditched the car.
Witnesses pointed police to Fred Meyer, where they found Sword, who matched the suspect's description. He was about to leave wearing a stolen $65 pair of shoes, Lacey police reports say.
While in custody, Sword fought with officers, kicking one in the knee and elbowing him in the chest. Sword also slammed his own head against a security screen in the patrol car, which left a gash on his head. He was hospitalized at Providence St. Peter Hospital before being taken to jail, police reports say. Police later discovered that the Mazda was stolen from a local auto dealership, police reported.

Heck, at the risk of of Cops showing up at my door, I have evaded police in many cars with MUCH worse handling and performce than the RX-8...
Police often take special "driving" lessons, but those lessons focus on the cop having, a) the better vehicle. b) better knoweldge of the streets c) never loosing sight of the suspect d) high speed chases rather than "handling" chases.
The fact is, cops usually just keep you in sight until you screw up yourself...after all it your game to loose, not theirs to win... SO if you are talented and have right machine and know their rules, you have a pretty good shot at a win...EVEN with those radios...
I am not promoting speeding or any illegal action, I was young in my youth (duh) and did some highly unrecommended things, but people need to understand that if you race down Pacific Ave. from the Dome to the Mountain, the police will win....BUT if you know every alley and backstreet from the Point to Elensburg....They have NO chance...the police just can't cover that much ground....

hey everyone, the Rx-8 being talked about in that story is mine. Nemisis8 informed me about this thread. i didnt even know it made the paper.
did it also make the news?? id love to see a video of it. the car to this day has not been fixed, the check engine is on and it idles weird. the Dealership (lincoln Mercury Mazda of olympia refused to take responsibilty for it, and my insurance company wanted a huge deductable, so it's just sitting at the body shop...i did hire an attorney to help out but all he's done is sent out a letter. I need advice i have no idea what to do.

Especially being caught in the middle of the dealership and insurance company.
I am going to see what another friend of mine did when his Corvette was taken off the service lot with the keys left in by the dealer.
He was awarded enough to replace the car.

I haven't caught up with my friend yet, so no answers here.

blah, blah, blah. Point being that you left you vehicle in the posetion of said dealership for maintenance. When said dealership takes posetion of your vehicle they take on the sole responsibility of it. If i were you, i would contact your local news station and ask if they would like to do a report on how this dealership let someone who is not the owner nor the tech, take possetion of your ignition keys, dive your car off their lot and not fix any damage incurred. Chances are they will jump at it. I would be supprised if the dealership doesnt change their tune. dealerships
Good luck.
Good luck.
