2 RX-8s at yesterday's autox
Yesterday's autocross at Everett was very crowded, but it was a fun course, and a beautiful day.
I rarely see RX-8s at autocross, which is strange since there are plenty of them out there, and they're very good autocross cars. Yesterday, I saw two running, which was nice to see.

I haven't seen posted results yet. One was driven by Shelbi, who's a very good driver, so I would guess that she did well.
But more of you need to come out to thest things. They're fun, and if you stick with it, you learn a great deal about controlling your car.

We had three RX8s at our Autocross event at the Tri Cities Raceway this weekend. Gotta love the way that car handles. Unfortunately, I do not drive to the cars potential. It seems I would have taken first in S1 but I am in S2, which is the class most of the clubs best drivers are in. You know the old saying, had a lot of fun, and got more of that seat time.
Now as a side note for you east/west siders. We are have a joint meet at Packwood next month. We are running the April 22 Saturday event and the West side is running the April 23 Sunday event. You can follow the path to the preregisteration for the Saturday event by going to our site. http://www.ssscc.org/ then go to Scheduling/results and select the East/West event and follow the directions.

TCR Autocross, Thanks to achyellow
Nice to be able to talk to you and your wife at this weekends autocross. I'm using your wifes presence against my wife to get here interested.
Thanks for the advice and freindliness shown towards an outsider to your club, all were helpfull and it was a great experiense. I learned alot.
I learned that autocross is a great oppurtunity to learn about the eight and its abilities all while being an extremely fun time. Let an experienced driver run your car with you in the passenger seat and it will tell you alot about what the car will do and what you (I) don't know. Hope to be able to continue following this sport.

Aha, I had only been looking at the SCCA page. I didn't realize that there were more local events. Thanks for the info. I'll definitely plan to make the event on May 14th in Everett. Anybody else planning to attend that one?
#12
I always plan to attend, and often succeed. This year, I raced at all the Slush races, but I missed SCCA 1 and 2. May 14 sounds like a problem for me, also, since my son is supposed to graduate from college on May 15. He and I would both rather do an autocross, but we probably will go to his graduation.

Well I won't be at the autocross in Everett tomorrow on account of Mothers Day, but I definitely plan to attend the one May 28th. Anybody else planning to go? I think I have my Dad talked into taking his C5 Corvette, and possibly another friend with an IS 300. It'd be great to see other 8's there. Especially anybody with Autocross experience, as this will be my first event. I used to road race, but I think Autocross is quite bit different so any tips will help. Now I just gotta take this damned spare tire kit out of the trunk and put it up on Ebay.

Hi all, I tried to get my wife to the novice school this past weekend but our schedule did not work out.
We will be going to Bremerton for the BSCC event in two weeks though.
I did an event there a couple of weeks back and had a great time !!!!
I don't want to boast.... OK yes I do I won the novice class by 2 seconds!
If I had run in the Sports B class I would have won by 2 tenths and I only had 700 miles on the RX with stock tires and alignment settings.
For any of you that were there I was in the gray 05 with no plates on it yet ;-)

I was planning on the SCCA event on Sunday. What is the BSCC event? I probably can't make a Monday, unfortunately. Fun runs sound good though, since I haven't autocrossed yet. Is it the Monday after the SCCA event?
#18
Ah, I see, the Bremerton Sports Car Club. So it sounds like you would recommend the Monday event over Sunday? I had forgotten that Monday was a holiday, so maybe this would work. This will be my first autocross, so I'd definitely like more time on the track. Is it the same course? Do you know what the cost is? I found the website, but I can't seem to find the event costs anywhere...
Also, do you know if one driver can compete in two cars, if somebody else is also competing in the second car? If possible I'd like to try my Dad's Corvette, and I'm sure he'd like to try my 8. Just a thought.

I've switched cars with folks at local autocrosses, when running time only (when I do the morning and afternoon sessions, at least one is time only). Nobody noticed, and nobody would have cared even if they had, since both of us were decent drivers.
This sort of thing is the advantage of fun runs. While I prefer to have every run count, I do enjoy the "fun run" aspect of the autocrosses in Portland, where the first three count, and all after that are fun runs (and you sometimes get three fun runs). It's a great opportunity to ride in a good driver's car, to see how it's done, and/or swap cars.

Ah yes, that's a very good point. I hadn't really thought about the Monday traffic. I'm pretty sure I'll be at the Sunday event, running in the afternoon. My only snell 95 helmet is my open cockpit helmet (Bell Dominator), which looks pretty funny inside an RX-8, so I shouldn't be too difficult to spot.
The Bremerton Sports Car Club lists Sunday as a practice day at Bremerton Motorsports park. Is there enough room there for them to run a practice event while an SCCA event is going on? It seems strange to have practice at the same place and time as another autocross event.

Yeah, the practice will be taking place to the left, as you drive in, and the SCCA autocross will be to the right. No problem.
If you're new at this, you might be better off just doing the practice, since you'll get more runs.

BSCC just updated the info on the practice day. They are going to start around 1pm. So I think I'm going to do the practice, and I *may* also do the morning novice SCCA session. It depends on whether I'm up for getting up early.

Have fun! If you come to the SCCA event, come say hi; I'll be there with my yellow S2000 (well, unless the weather forecast gets dismal; it's not worth it to me to drive to Bremerton to go spinning in the rain; hopefully, I'll get my All-Trac fixed up this summer, so it doesn't leak fluids, so I can use it on wet days).
