3M Clear Diaper
OK. This is for other doofuses who have encountered an obstacle when backing up and managed to scar their rear bumper.
(In my defense, as everyone knows, the rear visibility in the RX-8 is hardly optimal. Add to that the contortions I have to make to get my car out of my garage/driveway and I've managed to put two small scrape marks on my rear bumper. Oh yeah, I'm also married and my wife insists on driving the RX-8 from time to time. Not that I'm concerned...)
Anyhow, I contacted Stongard in Bellevue and asked about getting rear bumper protection for my RX-8. (I already have the standard 3M "clear bra" installed on the RX-8 and my Saab 9-5. Highly recommended protection here in the NW.)
Although they don't have a standard kit for the rear bumper, Stongard is designing a custom version for my car for an additional cost of $75. So, for anyone interested, I assume the cost installed would be $150 or so since they will have a template for the RX-8.
Note. This won't, of course, prevent major dents. It should, however, protect against scratches and the occasional rogue shopping cart attack.
