i'm not sure how many of you own walkie talkies, but they are very useful to have during these drives. I've only been on 3 drives so far, 2 of which didn't have any walkies, and 1 which had them and they help a lot. Especially if we manage to get a high turn out in the Portland area meets

Saturday works best for me. Wilsonville is about as far as I would go to start a drive. It takes me ~45 min to get to Fry's, at ~70-80MPH (I won't be driving there at 130).
The only leg of this drive I'm familiar with is the Wilsonville to Newberg part. I remember there are some fun corners through there, but also lots of slow traffic the 5 or 6 times I've been that way.
I'm still kicking myself for not catching the last drive, that one was ideal.

BTW, my roommate with an FB RX7 made the route. He is trying to get some rx7's out as well.
Note: Last time we (rx7 group) tried this drive, a guy put his car off a corner into a tree, in a ditch. Turned out he had no license or insurance, and it was registered to his girlfriend. Please drive under control. We wont be going crazy, just having a little fun. By the way, same guy, as he pulled into the parking lot, tried to do a donut, and was 1 ft from smashing the rear of my buddies rx7, which i had recently shaved the bumper and marker lights and fixed some dents. Please no jackasses.

What type of mods are you looking to do? Be sure to search around the forum before buying parts. There is some hype out there and you will end up spending big $$$$ without much to show for it.
A lot older than you I'm 38. You will find a very wide range of owners here. Your age or younger to people in there 50's or older. Everyone I have met is cool and we all get along and talk about our rides. Got to love the rotary

Well, we could do the drive for those who can make it, then all have a meet for dinner around 6ish to include the working folk? Lets make this happen!

Do not expect more than 3-5 hp. If you do not have much money saved up then keep saving. Personally I upgraded the handling aspects of the car first with wheels, tires, coilovers, alignment and corner balanced. I'm now working on upgrading the brakes with pads and steel braided lines. FWIW I have added exhaust and intake and do not think there was much gain if any. After the brakes, I will start working on getting more hp with a midpipe, cobb AP and coils.

I would love to go as I'm trying to find more places to do drives, especially curvy scenic routes ...unfortunately i'm not able to make it this weekend as I'm moving.
However, would anyone be interested in taking a drive to the coast, and does anyone know of any more interesting routes other than hwy 26?
As for aftermarket parts, Speed concepts is a good place and the guys there are cool. They'll give you a good deal on the parts you're looking for. I got my veilside kit and tanabe sustec pro's/teas from them. I'll be getting some oil cooler covers from them soon as well as already i've noticed some dents from rocks due to the front bumper not having anything to block rocks from kicking up in there

since i'm not going to be able to go to the meet this weekend, i'm planning on putting together a meet and drive to the coast on September 28th.
The route I was thinking of taking was Hwy 6 to Tillamook and then back up hwy 101 to one of the many beaches along the way to stop and have a picnic and fly some kites
I'm going no matter what but the more the merrier....barring that it doesn't rain that day.
