Yes, I got 3 in one day
1 for the "emissions recall"
1 for the extended powertrain warranty
1 from my dealer for coupons
I was wondering the same thing... what will be different after they do their thing to it? Seems like I'm not having problems, so why stir things up?

I didn't get any letter, since I bought this used mazda for like couple weeks ago, and right now it has no warranty on it (2004, 53K miles). I was just wondering, is my car is included in this recall issue? and what is the problem for the recall? is it the catalyst?
thanks,
Danny

You are covered for the recall. In additon, Mazda extended the powertrain warranty to 5 years 60k miles.
The link below is to the big thread on the recall. You should be able to find all the information you need.

I got my letter on Tuesday and took my car in to University Mazda on Thursday. They did the flash and the spark plugs, filled the tank, and washed the car. I wish I'd realized they were going to fill the tank because I had it almost full when I brought it in. Anyway, when I left I went to pull out into traffic and when I stepped on the gas the car barely accelerated. I figured maybe it was just cold, but all of the way home it had very little power. When I got home I popped the hood, and sure enough, they didn't put the spark plug boots back on the two spark plugs they changed. I put them back on and I have power again!
I called the service manager yesterday and he was very apologetic. He offered to do my next service (oil change and filter) for free, so that's good enough for me.
As for the new flash, I haven't done a lot of spirited driving since the service, so I can't really comment on whether or not it's changed things.

Got mine a few days ago. Probably won't take it in for months though. I got my plugs done a few months ago and if I wait for the 12 month mark they'll do them again for free. I already have the "S" flash so I'm pretty close to current anyway.
Don't forget to schedule yours so your tank will be empty when you take it in. You get a free fill-up and wash with the service.

I just checked my mail today and the recall was there. It's probably been there for a few days, since I only get my mail once a week or so. I am going to try and schedule for this Friday. It's a 75 mile trip each way for me. I will get there running on fumes if I can, even if I have to push it for the last couple of blocks. Even so, I will only have 3/4 of a tank when I get home.
I've experienced the lack of power a few times this summer, so I am going to make sure that they do all of the tests the right way

Brought my car into University Mazda last week. No problems, just got the flash, plugs, gas, and wash. Engine definitely has more pull at low rpms now. Not sure how much of this improvement is due to the flash vs the new plugs, but my car only has 7k miles on it so I'm guessing the flash is at least partially responsible. Anyone who recently replaced their plugs before the recall notice any difference after the flash?

Did you let them know ahead of time that you needed a loaner? I called the morning of the service to see about getting a loaner and they said I would have needed to book it in advance, and that all of their cars were booked. They only had the car for about 2 hours, so I just got a ride back to work.
