Anyone interested in some tires?

I know I probably shouldn't be posted something for sale here? but there's no other way of just posting a sale to a local area.

I have 1000 miles on my 8 now, I really want to get stickier summer tires. So I've got the stock tires Bridgestone RE040s with 1000 miles on them. Does anyone need some tires? They're basically brand new and just broken in. I'd be willing to let them go for $350. I live in the Kent area. Just seeing if anyone in the community is interested before I put them on craigslist.

They aren't off the car yet, but should be off the car next week. So there might be 250 more miles on them.

I hate to rain on your parade, but honestly, those stock Bridgestones might as well be Ice Skates. Just do a bunch of donuts and stuff with them. Wear 'em out and have fun while you wait for your real tires to come in.

Uhh, thanks for raining on my parade. Way to help out a community member. Either way. There have to be people out there who don't mind the stock tires. Instead of wasting usable rubber, I thought I'd offer them up to people in the community.

I don't like to abuse my car, so no I won't be doing any doughnuts. Perhaps you would like to buy them for some of this burning rubber and doughnuts that you do, so you don't burn up your non-"Ice Skates" tires.

People should Jump on this deal...hell, I should! Having slick, loose tires makes me feel like my car has a LOT more Horsepower! :D

Cool Rules.....

We have rules about crapping on sales threads - if you're not interested, move on - no need to dis 'em.

The guy is just trying to unload some stock rubber.

Yes, exactly. They're brand new tires. If you guys don't feel like that's an utter waste to just burn them even if they aren't the best enthusiast tire then you guys must just be too rich to be driving an RX-8. You guys act like I'm trying to rip people off.

I'll let this post sit here for a few more days, if no one local is interested then I will put them up for sale nationally.

I think I'm one of the few people that isn't too disappointed with these tires. They stick fairly well for the street and they weren't too bad at the track for stock rubber. They aren't phenomenal rain tires but I have more fun hanging the back end out when it's wet anyway. Granted, I haven't tried any other tires on this car yet, so my opinion may change. I don't need new tires yet, and I'll probably give something else a try when mine wear out (just to see what I'm apparently missing), but I'm sure you'll find somebody who will take them.

Bump for a great price on some new tires.

new price... $250

Well it looks like no one's interested. To think I felt like I was doing someone a real favor. I'll let these go for $250 to the people in my local community. Someone has to want these at this price. This is rediculous.

I'm actually kind of ticked off now becuase I don't feel like my new tires were worth the $800 upgrade. No, I'm not just saying this. And tirerack's user rating numbers are misleading by far.

Let the flaming begin...

I like the stock tires. I got 42,000 miles on my, and I got to the point were two tires were on there inner tread and one tire was losing air. but went I went to get new ones I got so3 at discount tires for 154.00 each, they were before 229.00 each. so its a realy good price. wich tires did you get from the tire rack?

Post this in the FS section and they'll disappear. If you're disappointed in your new tires, well...you never even broke the car in before changing out the rubber, so you definitely never drove it to the limits of the tires and really don't have any comparison to make. Sorry it's not working out like you expected. I do think you can get probably $500 in the For Sale section, though. Or your original $350 on craigslist.

Already posted in the FS section for 350 and craigslist. No one really showed any intrest and the thread just fell to the bottom, and not really interested to ship or split up the set which I had an offer to do.

I replaced the tires with the RE050A PPs. I expect tires to be better in more than just grip when they cost more. From what I'm hearing, the new tires will shine when it rains. I won't get to compare this, but I can imagine. I'm sure it's money well spent, just not really feelin' like I'm reaping the benefits right at this moment.

I just bought a $30k car. I'm willing to put good rubber on a $5k Civic, I'm not going to short change my $30k car. That's where I came from, but now I'm a bit disappointed.

I was very close to buying the RE050, but some other rx8 owner's toll me about the S03 and that i should spend the extra money. BY the time I got the money they drop price. If I recall they were less then the RE050. But I don't think the RE050 are that bad. I think its like Kristopher said, you did not have the RE040 long enough to see or feel the difference's!!!!

I feel your pain, though I wonder what else you expect to get out of your tires. Longer tread life usually equals lesser dry grip. Much of the reason performance tires are expensive is the smaller production runs. Very few people will actually shop for grip over tread life. Plus, the compounds are usually much more complex to give them good grip without falling to pieces too quickly.

I usually look at traction rating, then tread wear rating. If the tread wear rating is too high, I generally discount the accuracy of the traction rating. Of course, I'm also more than a little crazy.

I drove the hell outta my RX-8 and while the OEM Bridgestones weren't the stickiest tires on the road, they suited the car just fine and handled great FWIW.

What is funny is that I am in a Hurry to yard out my OEM Bridgestone RE50As because of they lack feel and grip, nothing special in the wet either.

Will be trying the Continental Contisport 3's or the Goodyear F1s...
