Sorry to hear you're still having so much trouble with your 8. Have you driven her far enough to put her on a dyno? If the power's coming on more progressively, it may feel worse and be performing better. We humans generally don't notice things unless they kick us in the head (like the earlier flashes made the motor do). Just a thought.

I was thinking that too, Kristopher - problem is, it's not just the weak-feeling power, it's the car bucks and cuts-out a bit...that sorta feeling. It's a feeling of the car YANKING all kinds of timing and what-not...but I'll likely dyno it before I sell it, just to make sure.

Merry Christmas to you, too, Dan! :D
If everyone likes, i can try to put together a dyno day for the end of the month - I'll be gone all of february.

Is it a stumble while cruising just off idle? I had that a couple of times, but it went away. Boy, I'm kinda glad I can't dream up anything else to check, 'cause that would probably mean I was having problems.
A dyno day would be awesome. Now that I have some decent income, I can actually participate, instead of just gawking.

I have had that too, but not all the time. It only showed up after they switched to the winter gas, which apparently is a different blend this year, and it is worse when it is colder out. This is not a constant problem, though. The frequency of it and/or severity depends greatly on what station I get gas from. so I thought it might be the gas. Interestingly, I decided to "test" this theory out and when my tank was really low after the light came on, I took our 10-gallon gas can (full) that was supposed to be for the lawnmower, and poured that into my tank. It was from July or August that it was filled up, so still the good gas. Anyway, being on the "summer" gas I did not experience this problem at all. My car also feels slightly less powerful right now than it did before the gas blend switch with decreased mileage. The only thing I can attribute this to, again, is the gas, since it felt much more peppy with the gas for the lawnmower. Also trying running Iso-Heet through it (red bottle, something like $1.49 at Fred Meyer), since being cold and wet out, you are more likely to get some moisture in the fuel tank, at least what I was told by the dealership.
I don't know if this is the same thing you are getting or not, but I have noticed it more shifting into 2nd, and then also a little bit, but far less pronounced, when shifting into 3rd.
Of course, I had been having a problem shifting into 2nd in general, like my clutch wasn't properly working with 2nd, almost like I was hitting something or about to grind going into 2nd because the clutch wasn't pushed all the way in, even though it was to the floor. The dealership said they couldn't find anything in particular wrong with it at the time they checked, but it has been steadily improving since then, so I'm thinking I may have had that ethanol evaporating TSB problem that is letting up on its own, if that's possible.
Not sure of any other reason why would it do that.

Kristopher sent an email w/ the files - but forgot to attach anything...when he gets back from his drive today, or first thing tomorrow, I should get them. :D Do you have a dyno post-new-cat I could show them?
That'd help me say "This dyno plot looks like mine - here's his after his cat was replaced...."
