August 20th meet and drive to the coast

hi all . 2 of my friends and I are planning a meet and drive of Mazdas this August 20th. I hope to get some people from here.
here is the rough plans so far.
meet at 10 AM at Apex Restoration - 12225 sw Beaverdam rd ( or Millikan way),Beaverton,OR 97005
leave there about 11 AM and drive down to Carlton,OR
from Carlton to Blaine, OR ( using Meadowlake rd. FUN ROAD! )
Blaine to Beaver, OR -good place to stop, bunch everyone up again, get fuel ,stop for lunch etc.
Beaver to Wheeler using Hwy 101
Wheeler to Hamlet\Necanicum Junction - using hwy. 53 to hwy 26 ( Hamlet is that place on 26 to your left that has fuel, general store etc before the Cannon Beach\Seaside split if you are going to the coast.
Then Hamlet\Necanicum Junction to Seaside.- meet up again ,fuel , eat ,etc.
about the way back I'm not sure of at this moment because I'm not sure how many will show up and how much time it will take us to get to these stops.

I will be taking this route on Monday to test it out and see what time frame it can be done in so mid next week I'll post more details.
if you want to look at a map just use msn maps or something like that and put in those waypoints and you can get a good handle of this.
oh and if you have non-mazda driving friends they can come to.
reply here with your comments or ideas or e mail me @ lpg1027@comcast.net. hope to see a ton of you out on the road with us !

Not sure yet. we are just starting to get the ball rolling. I'm from the mazda3forum site and a friend of mine has a rx8 and looks at this forum but doesn't post anything. he just looks for info ,so I took it upon myself to get this rolling here. another friend has a rx7 and he is getting the rx7 side going. so far I think he's got about 4-6,I have around 3-4 ,I have also posted on the protege forum and got a few from there, and now you. spread the word. just think of a bunch of Mazdas streaming down the backroads. I'm going to have to try to get somebody to do some video.this is really informal and not sponsered by anybody , just a bunch of people who love to go out for a drive. again spread the word and i will be posting more info and trying to get a roll call of sorts in the next couple of weeks to come.

Hmmm, I'm 2 hours North of you guys. I might head down 101 and meet you somewhere. I'll be crossing at Astoria - so where can I meet up?

Well that all depends how far down 101 you want to meet. we will get on 101 at Beaver (it sits between Tillamook abd Lincoln City) then we will travel north from there.there has been other discussion on another board to maybe stop in Rockaway for a bbq. thats still up in the air. if anything at least meet us in Wheeler (it's roughly 50 or 60 miles south of Astoria.) for the hwy53 drive. drove it twice this morning (once one way then the other) and starting out you are in some farmland (hope you don't mind the smell of cows) then really starts getting twisty. the corners start around a posted 35mpg then go into 25mph switches with some good elevation changes. then it starts to level out and go straight for about 1/2 - 3/4 of a mile then gets into some sweet 20mph corners that gets you going. hwy 53 is about 15-18 miles long with about 12 miles of it will shave off some rubber from your tires.

I am going to run the whole thing on Monday and I think I have a great place for everyone to meet in Wheeler. maybe there are some other Washington folk that would make that drive also.

update

well drove about 90% of the course and it was awesome. Yamhill County are repaving the lower portion of Meadowlake rd. to almost the top, had to wait about a half hour for the pilot car but they did say they were going to be finished soon with the whole job. the total round trip was about 225 miles but I wasn't able to drive to Seaside when I got to Hwy 26 because of some prior engagements. well here are the updated times
MEET: Apex Restoration at 10:00 am
LEAVE: 11:00am and drive towards Carlton,or via (not sure yet on this one, have a couple of ways to do it but I need to drive them both first)
ARRIVE:at Meadow lake Dr about 12 and drive towards Beaver OR
ARRIVE at Beaver about 1:00-1:30 depending on traffic. get gas,snacks,lunch,b.s. with everybody, etc
LEAVE Beaver about 2:30 and go north towards Wheeler
ARRIVE in Wheeler about 3:30 - 4:00 and drive to the boat ramp off of TIDELAND RD and HWY101 just north of Wheeler
Gather up any folks from up in Washington that meet us there
LEAVE: about 4:00-4:15 and drive up hwy53 with a possible detour (another fuzzy spot we will have figured out soon) and drive to hwy 26.
from Hwy 26 we will drive down to Seaside and meet or does anybody have a another suggestion?anybody know of any backroads that get you back to Beaverton from there?
