adam ant,

I live in Hillsboro and am getting ready to purchace my 8. How was Royal Moore to deal with? I checked Herzog; their staff seems ok but their selection is low.

I purchased at Royal Moore; no regrets. I did like the sales guy I met at Herzog, but as you say they have a lower selection and were not as willing to haggle. I've had the car back once for service and RM was very professional.

Talking titanium in beavertron

I have a Ti. RX8 that you may see on Hall or Murray on occasion. No mods as yet, but a Greddy E-manage could be on the horizon, and some race tires on a spare set of rims... Auto-x is the plan.

thanks, vroommm

Hey everybody,

I just bought a new Rx8 last week and I love it. Hope to see you guys around PDX. Don't really see too many Rx8 around.

Q: Anything I should do to the new car? (undercoating, "avoid reving the engine past 6000 rpms during the first 600 miles, alternating the rpms - read these tips somewhere...)

Thanks

I am down to the wire, buying my 8 tomorrow from internet manager at Ron Tonkin. I think I am getting a decent deal at $400 over invoice and he's going to go get it in Seattle. He's driving up a special blue one to trade BTW.

For all you adrenalin junkies:

There is an SCCA auto-x at PIR this coming Saturday. I will be running in the STU class in the morning run group. If you have never done auto-x before, it's a driving skill timed event that is easy on the car and much safer then city driving and gives quite an adrenalin rush! Admission is free if you just want to look, participants pay $25 for non-SCCA members and $20 for SCCA members.

I used to auto-x my '94 Miata. No kidding was that a blast. I'm dying to try it in my 8 and I would be more than willing to do the drive from Puyallup to PIR to do it again, if only the darn Air Force wasn't sending me off somewhere this week!

Have fun everyone. I highly recommend it; you'll have the time of your life!

-edit: I just saw the linked PDF. Yes! It's Saturday July 31st!!! This could be alot of fun - are newbies welcome?

Yes, newbies are welcome. Note that SCCA members register before non-members. They have a 75 car cap that limits the number of entrants. So if you want to run be there around 7:40 AM to get in line. I will be there around 7 AM so look me up when you get there. It gets hot out there on the asphalt so bring sunscreen and water.

The plugs are on national back order, so you can't get them now. The reflash is supposed to help gas mileage, but ther is no technical or safety reason you "have" to have it - your car is fine as is (and if it's brand new it may already have it). The dealer probably won't give it to you anyway, unless you come in with a CEL.
Would the '05 need the reflash?

no the 05s will be on the most current flash. in fact i am wondering if they just might be a flash ahead of the 04s although i have not seen or heard of a pcm calibration later than the M.
