Fun times though. The plastic bag smell was completely gone by the time I got home too. Steel wool + a lighter got most of it off on Sunday, then getting my car way overheated did the rest

Speaking of overheating, holy crap @ that 13b powered go-kart! 1030lbs, NA 13b, and wood dash = pure win... and he's moving it onto a Renesis + LSD off a Miata... hopefully next time we see that thing it'll spin less and put down some good times.
mpg?

So that Rotus was back:

Then there was a SS Camaro... but they didn't run!

But uh, the course today.. they gave us a 3rd gear straigt-away. I was crossing the lights at 80.

Best part about today? All of the fast people were in packwood, so I kinda cleaned up. I was 7th fastest indexed time for the day... didn't see raw time but I was in a similar spot. There were 2 gates in the middle of the course that if you got them wrong added a good 2 seconds to your time because you came into the 2nd one too hot and then had to wait another 50ft to open up for that straight.

Not at all actually, 82 at the peak and there was a nice breeze. I overheated my rear tires once, however the rest of the day was perfect.

Remember the guy with Blue Tiburon, Gavin? We did Fun Runs at the end of the day and I took him along for one. I beat my best time from the official run by .1 seconds. With how fast the last straight was, I was hard on the brakes after the lights, into the ABS. His quote was something like "I need your brakes in my life. Seriously, I need an RX-8". When I told him you can pick up an 04 for $12k... well... We're pretty likely to have a new forum member in the near future, especially after watching another Tiburon blow a head gasket today.

Wow, sounded like a really fun day. that's one thing I really like about the BSCC better than the SSCA. They seem to have faster courses. I wish I could have made it. Thanks for the report.

Apparently the course was so fast it wasn't SCCA legal.

There are 3 or 4 of them that consistently show up at the BSCC events, then a couple of them show at the SCCA events too. You've probably talked with Gavin and don't realize it, he's a tall, lanky African-American who works for MS as a game tester and he works the Grid a lot.

They were certainly 3-5 seconds slower than me this weekend

This course did something interesting, it both started and ended on the runway and used both cross-overs. It let the timing trailer be right next to the grid and spectators, it worked out really well. When we do events, we should totally set it up that way

I finally have this weekend free and didn't see any events on nwr-scca or bscc or alfa club. Anyone know if there is anything scheduled in the area this weekend?

Oregon region has an AutoX @ PIR. Were it at Packwood I'd say it's worth it but driving all the way to PIR and not hitting the track? I don't think so. Bremerton is all drag racing this weekend.

NWR SCCA is on a nearly a month long break, BSCC's next event is a member day on Friday, August 7th, Chuckanut is done for the year (wtf 6 event series?), WWSCC's idle until August 8th, Torque Steerer's don't have much info on their page... not even Boeing has an event this weekend...

We should have a BBQ!

There are two events next week at proformance. Monday is an afternoon lapping session, and then Tuesday the 28th is an all day lapping at PR.

Click on Schedule to bring up their schedule.

edit: there is also a high performance school on Monday if it's not too late to enroll

I'll be going to the one on Wed. August 26th. I should be able to do the whole day then. I was only able to do the half day yesterday.

On my last session with my instructor, ( i drove a half hour of an hour session(they combined the two groups for the last session)) he asked to drive my car to show me how to correctly take some of the turns I was having problems with. Besides showing me the corners his overall speed was so much greater (he also took third overall in the Pro 3 division in 2008. I don't know if that was regional or national.) He was gaining on BMWs that I couldn't dream of catching. He explained that on the straights the HP isn't there but in the cornering we can go so much faster, which I think we all know, but to experience what the car can do was incredible. I have so much learning to do =)
