BSCC Autocross Season

Congrats! But it's a month until the next event at Bremerton There's one about 120miles away from Seattle in Packwood, WA in 2 weeks though, it's close enough that I'll consider it... Hopefully, being that far away, it'll be a lot less crowded so we'll get more runs
And yesterday was pretty awesome. The course was MUCH faster than any of the others we've been through. It also ran in reverse of the others, with the grid on the runway. There was a crossover that got downright shady in the beginning until they got a more experienced worker on the start line. I think there was something like 20 reruns in the first group in the morning. The top times (the guy driving that Miata missing the windshield was the National Champion in that car last year, by the way) were around 42-43 seconds.
There was a wicked wide slalom, maybe 50ft between cones and both Mike and I figured out a line to take it flat out... and overcooked it into the left hander that came after it. He drifted it, I braked a lot harder and understeered like crazy... I'm pretty sure I could've gotten under 50 seconds with that run if I hadn't screwed that up, as is I got down to a 51.344 with 1 cone (my one cone for the day damnit) on my best point scoring run, with the penalty that put me in 8th for the morning. I don't remember my best time for the afternoon (50.something) but we ran time only in the afternoon so I was down in like 31st for the category, lol. We'll have to wait for them to post the times online and I don't know where BSCC does it.
I'll let Mike brag about his last time only run on his own

Hello, I was the guy in the silver 2005 RX-8. Thanks for telling me about this site. That was a fun fast course last Sunday. I'm really interseted in the Packwood SCCA event on the 3rd. I hear the course is in a very big squarish lot, so it will be very different compared to the up and down at the Bremerton raceway. I'll be going to the PM event.

I just noticed that the BSCC event on May 24th is actually a BSCC Novice school with the real event on the 25th... think they'd let us take it again? It's more runs, fewer cars and I'd actually like another run or two with an instructor.
To those who haven't done one of the schools yet, they're totally worth it. You get 8 runs with a mixture of you driving with an instructor as the passenger, an instructor driving YOUR car so you can get a feel for what it's capable of and what someone who knows their stuff can do, and then at lunch, the instructors run in their cars and will give students rides. There're some really freaking fast people in these clubs.

I don't know about the novice school and where they'll be holding it, but the SCCA is holding an event on the 24th at Bremerton. Here's a possible cool thing for that weekend. Two years ago on labor day, the SCCA held an event on sunday, and then the BSCC held an event on Monday, and they kept the track the same ( I wasn't able to go on Monday, but I knew someone that did.) I'm not saying that's what they'll do this time, but it would cool to be able to go home and think about the track, sleep on it, and then go back and get a second look at it. That's the only thing bad about autocross, you never get the chance to practice and improve on that course.

well there's an alfa lapping day on the 22nd, then the dyno day in Oregon on the 23rd, then the novice autox on the 24th, then bscc's 3rd autox event on the 25th (memorial day). at least that's what my calendar says. but i dont know yet if i can make any of them.. ;(
