Car cover for ash?

Is anyone going to keep a cover on thier car so it doesn't get covered in ash? I don't have a cover, but I would hate to be at work if the volcano blows and then have my 8 be covered in ash

I went through it in 1980! Nasty stuff, messed up a lot of vehicle engines, particularly in Eastern Washington.

I was here in Spokane visiting my grandmother... we had lots of ash about 4-6 inches in places. Had to wear a protective mask when you went outside and it isn't easy to clean up. It kills A/Cs, engines, scratches paint, and generally f's everything up. I would garage it even if I had to pay for it.

What about later?

Car cover for ash?

Be sure to consider what you are going to do after you have a car cover full of ash. The cover will keep the ash off the car the first ash fall but the ground around the car will be covered in ash waiting for you to drive over it. It was a mess last time and it will be a mess if it happens again. The chances of the extreme ash problems this area had last time being repeated are very low but not zero. And the Portland - Vancouver problems were nothing compared to else where in the northwest.

If the ash comes we will all need to remember how to carefully rinse without scrubbing.
