Front Plates??? How Aggressive are the LEOs?

I removed my front license plate bracket and I have the plate in the back seat. I just hate the way the plate screws with the design. Anyone else here pitch the front plate?

So far I haven't had a problem, been tearing around Seattle and Up here in Edmonds/Lynnwood without trouble. Just wondering if anyone has had any problems.

Freakin loving the RX-8. Added my first 1/2 quart of oil to her on Saturday. Spent a good ten minutes looking for the instructions on how to remove that engine cover.. Yeah That's how I felt, when I just lifted it off. Gotta love Mazda for making that easy.

First mod, Window Tint, I am thinking about some side strakes and maybe the Side window trim pieces as well... Nothing too serious yet. Also been thinking about an exhaust and maybe a rear wing... I like the MazdaSpeed Wing, but not sure, looks a little over the top...

Anyway, See you out there folks...

I also hate the fromt plates, unfortunatly i have to go to work on a military base and it enforce to have your vehicle "legal", i would love to take it off...i also love the mazdaspeed rear spoiler, it looks just awesome. My mods so far just very minor ones, it rains so much that i got the rubber floor mats so i don't ruin my interior, also just got the from splashguards, will be working on that this weekend. i also put the black pearl license frame adn the b-pillar piano black appliques are on their way ...next mod...tinted windos and strakes!

I haven't ran a front plate in about 5 years on any of my cars, never been questioned about it even when I've been pulled over a few times for other things.

Perfect, that was pretty much what I wanted to hear. The LEOs up here seem to take things really seriously when I'm on the bike, or speeding a little 5-10mph over, so i just wasn't sure how strict they were about the required plates up front. It just had to go.

Colorado was the same way, "Must display front license plate" Yadda yadda, but they were never really to worried about it. I got an extra $10 thrown on for not having it on the car while getting a speeding ticket, but that was over a period of about 10 years and three different cars.

B-Pillar appliques that was what I was trying to say.

B-Pillar appliqués that was what I was trying to say, I like the fact that Mazda has this stack of ready to go accessories, that is pretty cool. Not too worried about performance mods yet, I just want to throw some jewelry at her pretty much. An exhaust system would be nice, but there are so many differing opinions as to what is or isn't too loud that I am waiting to hear a few in the real world.

How do you like the rubber floor mats? I was thinking about those as well.

The rubber mats work great! i really like them, keeps the car dry on those so often rainy days over here, they fit like a glove too.

Cool, Thanks Looks like I'll have to pick some up.

Thursday she's going in to have her windows tinted. Taking her to Auto Trim Seattle here in Lynnwood. They are the folks that handle a lot of the OEM tinting up here so while they aren't cheap we'll see how it comes out.

I've been front-plate-less since day one - December 5th, 2004. I too work on a Military base - but there are SOO Many cars from all over the country - many of which don't have front plates. I've never been stopped (knock-on-wood). I keep my driving and headlights on often, which may 'distract' the LEO.

"Hey bob - put down your donut and lookit THAT cool car!"

The way I look at is why give them a free shot at pulling you over? At least if you are speeding, it's catch me if you can. But if the cop that passes you going the other way is having a bad day, all he has to do is turn around and catch back up.

You mean Mazda didn't issue you your FREE get outta ticket cards? Hell I got three...

Anyway, I don't worry about getting pulled over. I haven't anything to hide so hell another $20-50 on top of speeding isn't a big deal. I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't "STRICTLY ENFORCED" like the speed limits on I-5 north of seattle. Not a Scoff law, I just really couldn't stand the way the front plate and hardware looked on the RX.

Now that you mention, i've notice a lot of people driving without the front plates, i might just go ahead and give it a try soon.

I live in the tri-cities, and I was pulled over specifically for not having a front plate on. Just a warning though.

What was the outcome? Fine? Fix it ticket?

I was kinda considering cutting my plate down to just the Numbers. Then mount that up there but figured that would prolly attract more attention.

But yeah, what was the outcome of yoru getting pulled over?

I've been hit twice for no plate on my previous car, once on I-5 in Lynnwood, once on I-5 in Everett. Both times were really "check you out" stops where they said they pulled me over for no plates, checked my documents, then let me go with no ticket.

I wore 5 points in my previous car every day while in nice clothes. I think the LEO's were always distracted by that when they walked up to my car, expecting to see some punk. I got tagged for speeding once but the guy took one look at me and said "if everyone did that we'd loose a lot less people" and then let me go.

He Means 5-point harness. Serious seatbelts that will keep you in place MUCH better than the OEM 3-points.

-Rini

Japanese Female name, means "Little Bunny".

I couldn't give a tough guy name to a car that is just not a Tough Guy car. It's too nimble, too sporty, to svelte to be named.. "Max" or "The Beast"...

In the past 6 years I've lived in both the Portland and Seattle area and have run plateless with my RX-8, RX-7 and both my 240SX's and have never been pulled over for it. Once I got pulled over for speeding and the officer walked to the front of the car and looked, I thought for sure I was going to get a ticket for it, but he didn't even say anything. When I purchased my RX-8 from Ron Tonkin it had neither a front plate or the mounting hardware.
