Ground Zero Motorsports for tuning

Ground Zero Motorsports for tuning
So, I've been recommended to Ground Zero Motorsports for tuning on my car when I get it up and running again. Does anybody here have any history with them, positive or negative? I'm running a turbo'd RX-8, and I'll be bringing it over from Idaho to get tuned there. I would check out Pineapple Racing, but I've heard they don't do tunes, unfortunately.

What is your turbo setup? Engine management? I have spoken with GZ a few times about tuning and they are not believers in the RX-8. I'd really feel them out regarding the Renesis to see how much experience they have tuning it. Also head over to rx7club.com and run searches in their NW section because there is a lot of info over there with things that some what recently happened with GZ. Also there is only one person at GZ that is a rotary expert so make sure you find out who that is and talk with him.

I have a Garret ball-bearing turbo, Mazsport Interceptor-X for the ECU, and a Greddy Boost Control (to list the most important parts). When I spoke with GZ, they seemed comfortable with it, but a sales person is always supposed to seem comfortable with it.
Another question - I thought that Corksport was only a parts dealer, but it looks like they do tuning on all sorts of Mazdas, and currently have a project RX-8 in the works. Does anybody have any experience with them, positive or negative? rx7club listed them as a tuning shop, and they said they had the capability to do it on the phone, as well.

I was at corksport a week or so ago with my 8 and they did not mention any project 8 they are working on. I believe they have only installed the Greddy Turbo kit as well. I am going there again Thursday so I will ask them about it. I know the owners has an rx8 though so maybe they are working on something and just not talking about it?

BTW I would PM zoom44 to get his take on local tuning shops. Also it would not be a bad idea to PM MazdaManiac to see if he can do your tune. You may have to fly him up from AZ but it would more than be worth it. He may convince you to get the Cobb Access Port and ditch the Interceptor-X as well.

I've drove this car for like 200-300 miles before the engine blew, and I've put enough money into it already - despite all the good things I've heard about Cobb, I can't afford to shell out for another ECU. Thanks for the help Hak, I appreciate it!
*edit: Here's the CS project car. I didn't look at the dates... I hope it's not still a project car any longer: http://corksport.com/page/mgxj/RX7_R...ject_RX-8.html

I had my car tuned at both places. First at Ground Zero when I had my Supercharger setup with a microtech. Honestly at the time Ralph didnt know much about the Microtech or superchargers, so when he tuned it I got high HP numbers, but when we pulled the car out off the dyno, my car was not able to be driven. I had to trailer the car back and have Gary Brooks mess with the tune just to make it driveable. I don't think Ralph is there anymore, but he was awesome with Turbo setups.
I also had Corksport tune my car, and YES they do know what they are doing as far as tuning goes. (Derrick). I would like to take my car back to complete my tuning after I change my exhaust, but honestly its quite a long drive.
I do know that we do have some local tuners here in Spokane. I was planning on taking my car to P.T.R injection, he seems very knowledgeable, and if he knows his way around the Microtech, then Im sure he has some good insight on how to tune.
Maybe shoot him a call and talk with him and see what he says. Might save you a few dollars since he is local.

Does Corksport have tuning experience with the Renesis? From the few discussions I have had with them I'm not sure. I know they installed a few of the Greddy kits and not sure what else they have done. Again I'm specifically referring to the rx-8.

Did you see this?

He is my first choice. Second choice would be Ralph at ground zero. Third choice would be Corksport.
If Ralph is gone move to choice three.
