Meanwhile, my car looks like a little white puff in the driveway. I don't think I can get out. I don't have to leave until around 3 p.m. to get there and it did just finally stop snowing. My mom may be taking me in her AWD Tribute today, since I can't use my time off yet and I have surgery coming up in two weeks where I need the extra cash for that. So, I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet.

hehe, i drove to work today when it was snowing pretty heavily around 5:30 am and was driving on 405 at 30 miles an hour.

when I finally made it to the office in 1 piece I was so happy and on my last turn I see this lady jogger who doesnt stop for me while trying to cross the intersection (green for me) and I brake really hard to avoid hitting her and my car fishtails on the intersection outside my office park!

Thank god no one was there, whats worse is that lady didnt even look back, she just kept jogging!

Damn, that sucks. At least your car is fine. I'm still not sure what I'm doing about going in to work this afternoon. I have about an hour to go before I really have to decide to either take myself, have my mom take me, or call in and skip, which I don't want to do. I need all the money I can get right now before I have surgery.

I don't think that would do anything except create a huge mess. It would just get really soggy and nasty. A lot of stores are selling de-icer that you can sprinkle around. I think it takes a long time though, and if there is a lot of snow and ice it probably won't end up doing much good. Rock salt works also, but not as well.

How about taking the bus?

Yeah I figured out the bus route to get to work. When I got outside to go to the bus stop, I noticed the driveway had melted quite a bit and a lot of cars had brought in sand from the main road, so I decided to try my car again. I'm finally at the office now.

I can't understand why management at my apartment complex can't spend $20 on some sand to dump onto the driveway. Complete morons.

I think it only works for a quick fix when you're stuck... like dumping some by your tire to help give you traction for a few inches. I'm sure it turns to mush pretty quickly, like Skinless said.

I don't even want to look at Ruby's right rear rim. I got her off the curb, but I'm sure there was some grinding. I guess I order those snow tires and these stock rims become snow rims.

Who would've thunk we'd get this kind of weather here? Totally bizarre.

Yeah, pretty strange - but it sounds like it's strange all over. I just hope we don't get snow in April! It happened one year that I can remember, I just don't remember which year .

Got to the meeting on time. They're doing a reorg in my company and I found out that I'm being moved into a new small group that has complete and autonomous power over the area we work on.

I'm getting tired of this odd weather. I left Bella at home safe in her driveway, assuming the lady I share with doesn't decide to come home from work, but I doubt she is going to attempt it. She will probably just stay at the hospital where she works (nurse), like she has done before. I was actually quite surprised she attempted to leave in it today, but she did.

not a good year, so far angelica got hit from rear, Matt5462 got hit in the front, and now ruby hurt her foot. i hope this is it and nobody but there car up side down!!! is ruby going to be OK for the snow flake run. which by the way a littler bit more and we could run on snowflakes. i think you jink us here in the NW. so wend you pick the next name, please pick something warm and dry!!!

Oh, so now you're going to blame me for all this crud. Well, okay, maybe that was a poor choice is names. I guess reverse psychology doesn't work on mother nature.

I looked this morning before leaving for work and there doesn't appear to be any more curb rash than before. The tire must have taken the brunt of it, but I really don't see any scuffing there either. Maybe there was just enough slush between tire and curb to protect it all.

If there's even a hint of snow again this year, I'm breaking my own rule and getting snow tires and rims. They may sit around waiting years for the next snow, but at least I'll have them.

I'm still depending on the mom-mobile until things clear up more. I'm too poor to shell otu for new tires and rims right now. Maybe next year, though.

Well, it's still shitty at my house until I get closer to town, and I have to take myself to and from work today. So, it looks like 15-20 miles an hour for the first 5 miles or so.

since I've been up here in the PNW since June, I have loved it.... except for this past snowstorm which just so happened to leave my 8 stranded on the side of the street across from my driveway (parked on a massive hill) for several days. normally I wouldn't have attempted to drive, but my husband has his truck down in CA until Feb, so I had no choice.... you would have thought I won the lottery when I was able to get my 8 back in the garage! The good thing is that I was able to keep an eye on her and make sure no one slammed into her coming down the icy curved hill... talk about being nervous!

on a side note, I checked into snow chains and was (unfortunately) advised that due to the design of my potenzas and the lack of clearance btwn the tires/wheel wells, that chains would be a p.i.t.a. to put on (they were the ones you drive onto, not 'clip on') and that the chains availabe for my tire size (225/45R18) wouldn't work too well because they are low profile and the chains would probably damage my rims... I was a bit let down... but the 8 isn't designed to be driven in the snow/ice, so I wasn't too surprised... oh well, lessons learned.... this past storm was almost enough to make me sell the 8- I hate being stranded and having to rely on others to get around...

Don't sell the 8! Weather like this is so rare you'll be sorry if you do. Heck, we probably wont even get snow the next couple winters (knock on wood, knock on wood, knock on wood...).

^^^ This has been such a freaky winter, very unusual for us. Last time I remember it being this bad (snow and then <20 degrees F for 2 weeks so it didn't melt) was back in 1984 - it almost ruined the Christmas shopping season that year.

For what little driving I did this time, my new Kumho all-seasons worked fine. Many who have 8's in snowy places swear by Blizzaks or Dunop M3 snow tires though. I'm sure you've already read that stock Potenza's are summer tires and the compound of the rubber doesn't like cold temps.

Saki looks great, don't sell her just for the few days we have snow here! I would think that Sequim would get a lot less than we do in the Seattle area - you're in the "banana belt" of Washington.
