Introducing Myself...
Just wanted to say howdy to the NW folks.
Took delivery of my RX on Sunday after a lengthy deliberation/Test drive process.
Having a Blast and I love this car...
Here's my scary Mug with the new Toy. Been having a lot of fun, hope to see some of you around.
Basically I am North of Seattle at the Intersection of I-5 and I-405.

Awesome - nice color choice I must say
If your up for it, we are meeting in Olympia on Sat April 1st for a dyno session. There will be lots of different rotaries there. You can come down and just watch if you want. I'll have my modified platform there also.

Thanks folks, I appreciate it. Olympia on the 1st of April??? Umm, is this some kinda new guy April Fools thing?
We'll see might be a lot probably be a lot of fun.
I have to go pour through the stickies and FAqs real quick though. My RX is making a weird whistling noise on throttle tip in and then again above 7K RPM. mostly sounds like intake noise but I figured I better check... I am used to the bike making all sorts of wierd noises, I just have to get used to the new ride.
AND
I gotta figure out what kind of oil folks recommend.

Welcome and that's a normal sound from the engine (more pronounced with window open), the port is open for more air and cover those holes with screens. Using what oil has been debated many times already, I'm leaning towards using synthetic but will be using mineral for at least 15000 km before making the switch. The best route is convert the oil metering system to get 2 stroke oil from a separate reservoir but that requires some modding expertise.
Enjoy your new toy...

The 8 from Swamp Creek!!
Sounds like a great name for a cheesy '50s horror film.
Welcome to the cult and congrats on choosing the classiest and fastest color. You'll find this site to be a great source of information for your new ride.
Enjoy!

Thanks folks. I appreciate the welcome. Still loving it, took it out to parking lot last night with DSC switched off and uh... Took her for a little spin. Wet pavement of course to spare the tires. Was a good time, just cannot get enough of that noise. Definitely has me thinking about a cat back system...
Was curious though what kind of oil folks are using. 5w20 seems really light but it burns some and it's a rotory so I dunno. Recommendations would be appreciated. First though I think I'll head back to the dealer for some jewelery. Strakes, Rotory accents, dark tint on the windows. Maybe a wing but I cannot decide between the Mazda speed or Factory, obviously the factory wing has a price advantage.
Anyway just rambling, love this car and again thanks for the welcome.
Oh I een got a thumbs up last night from a lady in a G35 Coupe... With a smile no less.

As for the Synthetic oil, I'm a huge fan of Full ester based synthetics from both Silkolene and Motul. Been running them for years in the Hayabusa. BUT Mazda is pretty clear about NOT using any synthetics. So that has me stalled, I mean if the manufacterer specifically states NO? I dunno.

Yeah That is kinda where I am at, and will prolly just do exactly what Mazda Recommends.
Thanks again for the Welcome folks, been in the Nowrthwest for just over a year, originally from Colorado by way of Florida, and it's damn good to have Mountains again. Love it up here feels a lot more like home than Florida ever did and people up here have been just wonderful.

Looks like you're hooked, just like the rest of us.

Hook line and sinker. Heck I have never had a car that made me WANT to go drive. That's something I am used to with the Bike, just no a car. Good stuff.
As for throwing mone at my dealer? Doug's Lynnwood Mazda kicks butt. I have NEVER had a more pleasent buying experiance from start to finish... NO pressure, NO haggling, keys to EVERYTHING on the lot if I asked and just a great group. So, I will be gladly be throwing some of my money at them just to maintain that relationship. But I will also be looking to save some $$$ as well.
Was just looking at Rosenthal Mazda and they seem to have some good prices. Though shipping across country could be spendy.
This is my first rotary but my Dad had an old RX-7 back in the late 70's. I rember clearly being in the back seat of that thing earing around Colorado. Good stuff. And the noises the new Rotary make still remind me of that first RX. Kinda like being a kid all over again.... Hell I was 7 I think..

I started my search at Doug's and I agree with you. Ended up at Lee Johnson in Kirkland though, and they were great too. Got the same color, GT, with Black/Chapparal int, spoiler, 6MT... Bought it with a broken left foot, so I only have 960 miles on it since I bought it a month ago...
