January Drive - Snow Flake Special

The maps are done. Do to the recent weather, I had to do them completely online, so the cool feature I was hoping to introduce will have to wait for next month. The links to the map PDF's are at the top of the directions on this page.

Thanks for doing the first part shaun, and pointing out that really cool TripTik tool.

Kristopher, Are you still thinking about splitting the larger group into smaller ones with a leader in each? I know, it depends on how many cars show up.... I was driving back from Anacortes today, passing by the ill-fated spot where I got my ticket a few weeks ago (between Stanwood and Arlington so stupid of me), and I'm thinking I prolly shouldn't lead ... I'm nervous about getting another ticket.
On another subject... Darin has a thread going in the Lounge about wine and The Bri posted there too - they have a very impressive knowledge and experience with wine I must say! I was thinking that maybe we could do a drive similar to the one we did when we BBQ'd at Tolt/McDonald - and then come back to Redmond to the wineries, do some wine-tasting for those who want to and who have designated drivers, and we find a spot close-by to picnic/bbq and hang out until we sober up to drive home. Thoughts?
Ha ha.. A wine drive... And then, for those who prefer beer - a beer drive.... Only with designated drivers though! (I was laughing because my scuba club has a wine dive and a beer dive in the summer time... They hide beer bottles at Edmunds Underwater Park in August and wine bottles at Alki in July - under water of course... like a easter egg hunt... although the prize in this case for the most bottles is all the bottles you find!).

Yeah, I was still planning on splitting the group up. If you're not comfortable leading, that's perfectly fine, we'll just run a little larger groups.
I like the wine/beer drive idea, and have been percolating a couple of others. We'll definitely need to do some brainstorming, because February still has me stumped.
jisoo26, glad to hear you successfully scared your relatives away, at least temporarily.
I tell you, when I started mentioning this drive to other clubs, I thought we'd get maybe 20 cars, on the high side. When it started growing past that I stopped inviting people, and have just been keeping those who already signed up informed. And still I keep getting e-mails or seeing posts. Whatever we do for February has to be a bit more "rural." I'm calling Spuds tomorrow to give them a heads up. I can just see the looks on their faces as all these people come waltzing in wanting grub. :o

I wonder if it'll get warm enough to wash my car...

Yeah, totally out of hand. There looks to be a big loop drive deep inside Fort Dent Park. There's definitely a lot of parking there. I'll do a little scouting when I get there Saturday morning. I'm bringing a couple sandwich boards to help point the way.
All I wanted to was to invite a few others so we'd have a decent sized turn out (10-20). I figured December was a fluke with 9 actually making the run. I guess folks are just itching for a group drive.
This just emphasizes the need to behave responsibly (not boringly, but not stupidly either). Every couple of days someone is sending an e-mail asking to be included.

Yay!!! And guess who still owes me a foot rub?!
In other more exciting news, Robbie still hasn't flaked out on me. Last night he actually said he was looking forward to it. Yay!!!! I think he's happy I didn't have a nervous breakdown with him in my car the other day. I discovered I don't mind him in there in the slightest anymore, and I didn't want to hit him when he adjusted the volume on the radio!

why would he do that? why would he even think about reaching for the radio controls? thats like reaching for another man's fries. hell i glare at my WIFE when she gets it in her head to reach for the volume. i stab the stearing wheel controls to cut her off then i readjust it to where i want it (which of course is where she wants it- im not that stupid)
damn i never seem to have the day off when these are scheduled. i was thinking i would actually make this one but i cant now.

Why do that? Then somebody no doubt would start frantically stabbing at the buttons trying to get them to work, and it would be far worse than if you just let them gingerly touch them to begin with.

Although I never officially signed up (just gave away the route spoiler) I saw my name on Kris's list so I should probably mention I can't make it, as I will be out of town.
As a thought for some time later, when they get it all fixed, how about a jaunt around the big one? A little tough on the suspension, but Rainier's curves are killer.

I think we should make copies of the route and a map of it for those who are out-of-towners or are leading a smaller group. I don't do very well with a list of streets to turn on, so maybe a page or two or three that show the areas with street names in addition to the list - is that possible?
Wow, sandwich boards - you've got quite a high class operation going Kristopher!

I'm trying.
I'll see what I can come up with for a single map. We created those PDF's with the AAA TripTik tool and it doesn't seem to do an overview map. But I will be at my parents place tonight, so maybe I'll get into some of my other software.
