LEO's on I-90

Another thread reminded me that with spring approaching our friends in the Washington State Patrol are likely to be showing up at one of their favorite locales, I-90 around Issaquah.

I drive that stretch frequently so I thought I'd pass on a couple of observations. For the last couple of years the WSP has been using (at least one) unmarked Volvo sedan to nail speeders on I-90. Yesterday, I happened to note someone pulled over by an unmarked Chevy Suburban. So, in the interest of denying insurance companies and the WSP their fare share of revenue, I'd recommend keeping an eagle eye out there over the next few months.

I drive the 90 everyday.

I havent seen the Volvo yet, but the stretch from 405 to Issaquah on 90 always has tons of UC WSP in Chevy Tahoe's and Sub's

LEO is a nice reference. However, I would call them the Revenue Patrol since 90% of there work is write tickets for state revenue not in the eyes of safety. That is my .02 worth of input.

Bingo.

I'm trying not to get started...I could rant for weeks about the bullshit traffic policies of the Administration of the WSP.. I have much respect for the troopers and their job.

I have nearly NO respect for the policies they follow, however.

You mean, for instance, why is it that I have to worry about driving the speed of traffic, safely, because that may be above the speed limit and I may be the one pulled over because I drive a bright yellow roadster, while the guy behind me in the SUV, six inches off my rear bumper at highway speeds, knows that he has nothing to worry about (and, indeed, probably thinks he's not doing anything wrong)? I am appalled at how low actual traffic safety ranks in the enforcement department.

I'll probably jinx myself by the following, but...

I routinely drive over the limit, usually about 10-15 mph on the highway. Not the fastest but I pass more cars than pass me. Haven't had a ticket in ten years, or so. My wife, on the other hand, is far more scrupulous in watching her speed. She's gotten two speeding tickets in the last three years, one for going 30 in a 25 mph zone in Bellevue, and the other for going 68 in a 60 mph zone on a two-lane highway. She was the last in a long line of cars going heading to the mountains for skiing.

And in each case she was driving her Volvo station wagon. I try to console her by assuring her if she weren't so attractive the cops wouldn't stop her.
