Moving to WA this Spring
Ok so i'm in the army and i'm on assignment to Ft. Lewis. I should be there around later march, early april and I will have my 8 on hand. Right now the 8's in NC and i'm in S.Korea, so i'm going to pick it up and drive cross-country in it after i'm home for a few days. Now on to the pics

How's the weather in late March? Well, let's put it this way. Most years we get a dusting of snow once during the winter. This year we're at more than 14 days that have had enough snow on the ground to make driving interesting. A couple years ago I was eating lunch outside in 70 degree weather in late February. Basically, the weather happens, and we keep driving.
BTW, the group drives are every month, and they're growing

i just moved to Port Angeles (now live in Sequim) from Delaware in June (husband in the USCG)... drove the 8 & it took 5 days for the cross-country drive, but definitely a blast!
I still have my car registered in DE, which doesn't have a front plate requirement. I also have illegal tint. I have yet to be bothered by cops up here. However, I think everyone loves Coasties up here
If you haven't been to WA state, you'll love it. Its soooo much better than the east coast- well, the northeast anyway :D

Hey thinks y'all, i really dont want to put a plate on the front, but if i have to then i will, it just looks nasty on any RX. I was asking about the weather beause it sucking ***** over here right now with highs in the 40's and lows at night in the -10's+, so i'm just looking for some warm temps to play in when i get back state side. I knew it was going to take bout 4-5 days to go out west gr8 saki(bro made the trip back in Aug.) and since i'm taken I40 most of the way i think i should be good.
So your saying that its better then living in the state with THE Dragon, some how i just cant see it yet but maybe your right. I just hope i'm still in NC round April 20 to make a run during the Deal's Gap Rotary Rally.

Heya!
I work on Ft Lewis - Across the parking lot from our Replacement Det; Drop a note if you need anything during your inprocessing!
I've been front-plate-less since day one of owning my car - 2 years ago. I'm still knocking-on-wood I don't get 'got'!

I'd probably take NC over WA though, even if it didn't have the Dragon I'm a southern girl- orig. from TX- so I'm a bit partial to the heat

I think i'll stick with what ever i get once i get there, but if you can find out when they deploy that would be great. The reason is because me and 2 others are going to be there between march-may

Its official people, I finally got my orders to go to Ft. Lewis. I leave hell in 34 more days then taken 8-10 days of leave to chill back home. After I pry my keys from my parents hands( something about the 8 not made for snow/ice) I'm driving over there. The way I see it is it should only take me 6 days at the most to get there since I’ll probably be driving 14-16 hours a day. All I know is **** it road trip in 42-44 more days.

Ok so i'm checking in people. I got in on saturday around 5pm, so after i get my stuff in order i'll come to a meet. Oh and also there is a gray 8, 18's, no aero that also just got in so as soon as i find out who the owner is i'll send him here if it's not a memeber already.

Sorry to resurrect the thread, but I'm also considering a move to Seattle. Living in Boston now but career opportunity is knocking, which would require a relo to Seattle. Looks like some of my worreis have been quashed.
1. lots of people with 8s who do runs on the weekends
2. there are tracks for me to do HPDEs
demonsniper, how you liking it so far?

Welcome to Washington State!
On a side note, the 4-6 Air Calvary has been flying Blackhawks and Apaches over my house in Aberdeen all week. It makes me feel proud for them to use our deep Port for deployment.

Sorry for Sharp-shootin' ya, Kev...
I'm not sure 4-6 has any apaches. At least when my former-coworker assumed command of the unit, no apaches were present - only Blackhawks, and Kiowas. I just pulled-up their data, and didn't see any.
These are the two helicopters showing:
AERIAL SCOUT HELICOPTER: OH-58D
HELICOPTER UTILITY: UH-60L
Now - if I recall, from memory, the Cav Squadron will serve as a 'Scout' Squadren FOR the Apaches. Thus, there may indeed have been Apaches there, around you, however, they wouldn't be 4-6's Apaches.
:D
