My first Auto-Cross!
Woohoo! Did the ACE Ladies Practice today in Everett on the BEAC course. I am such a noob though...!
Now please don't laugh...
1st lap - with instructor along - I paid NO attention to him, tried to go fast and missed a bunch of gates... time was 70.
2nd lap - with instructor - paid attention to his directions this time - time 72.
3rd lap - with instructor - cut errors by half - time 63.
4th lap - Instructor drove my car while giving me driving tips- his time was 48! He said my car could do WAY better than that.
5th lap - I rode with someone driving a Miata, don't remember her time - I was more focused on hanging on!!!
6th lap - I rode with someone driving a Mini-Cooper, a MUCH different ride - I think her time was 46.
I tried to ride with the person driving an awesome-looking black Solstice, but it had started to rain by then and she said she'd only driven in rain twice before and her tires were shot, so she didn't think it was a good idea... DARN!
7th lap - Me solo - I missed 1 gate and ran over a cone - time 56.
8th lap - Me solo - time 53.
It really started raining then, so I watched everyone sliding around. And I was SO exhausted... plus I had to go home and wash my car for the Whidbey Island run tomorrow...
Hope to meet some of you there!

Sounds like you had a great time. Driving this car at speed on an autocross course is addicting, aint' it?
Don't focus on how your time compares to others. Focus on the fact that you improved each run, from a 70 to a 53! Great job! See what a bit of seat time does? A few more sessions and you'll be right up there with hot shots.
And don't worry about hitting the cones. If you never hit one, you're not driving close enough and giving up time. Also, we have to knock the cones around every so often to let them know who's boss!

Ha ha ha.... Yes!
My brother (who has raced a bunch) was there and he thought we should go in together on a older Miata that we don't have to worry about... I was a little concerned about abusing my car...

Posting pics...
My brother shot some video, but it was my slowest run... Besides not knowing how to post video, we decided it just looks like someone trying to park at the mall!!!

Are you sure there is one this weekend? The next one I see on the calendar is the weekend of the 24th (For Everett at least). It's put on by torque steerers. Is that the one you were referring to? It looks like there is an event both days. I'll probably attend one, but I doubt I'll be there for both.
Great improvements 05TiGr8Lady. Glad to hear you had fun!
