Cool new engine

After two day of testing. I got angelica back today!!! now I have to wait for two weeks until Milan Mazda gets the new engine. but at least am not going be be with out her that long, and they toll me it wood be two or three day to charge engine and test. So I will see you all at the drive-in with angelica. now the weird thing is that today in the morning I had to take angelica to the interlock place for her calibration appointment, and the rpm wood not stay still at 750rpm on the stop lights. there were all over 750 to 1000rpm. for a moment I was worry and the mechanic toll me it was the primary port miss firring and that all the engine he has replace were misfiring all on the second port, not the primary and that this was the only car doing this, and that was after they change the two coil and wires. he also said that it miss fire 103 times on the primary port, in like one five minutes run. but now the rpm are steady at 750rpm. I do feel the engine weak, but I think its in my head, and they show me in there computer that it is the original engine, on like what Russ dunmires toll me wend I did my last recall with them. see you all soon and I hope the engine swap goes OK. who nose, may be I have been driving angelica with out her full power all this time!!!

I would pay to swap out the ignition coils if they are the original model. I'm getting my engine swapped now too and they told me they were going to keep the old ones. It's worth the extra $150 to me to get them swapped.

Wasn't the igntion coils one of the warranty fixes they had to replace on the last major recall where many of us got the free tank of gas and PCM flash.

I believe they are one of the "if it's out of spec" items.

that is one of the resend why I think that Russ dunmires did not do the last recall on my car right, and that is one of many reasons why my friend that use to work for them for the past 15 years left to Milan Mazda. he work in the parts dept.

last Tuesday, I was in Seattle at the VA hospital. After my appointment, my wife and me went for a drive around Seattle and on the way home I saw a red rx8. So I down shift to 2 gear and it felt like I was on 6 and tolling a trailer. I was hoping on passing three car and I only pass one!!! So I took it easy on my way home the rest of the way. But about ten minutes later check engine come on. Today, three day later it come off, and Milan Mazda call me to let me know that my engine come in Today. So I will drop it off on Monday. Hope it only takes them two or three day at the most to replace!!!

Good luck. They are going to start swapping my engine tomorrow. New coils, plugs, clutch and flywheel friction surface are going in as well. Are you getting anything else done while they are swapping yours?

What the hell break in procedure are they extolling. I redlined mine several times on the way home from the dealer ship, and ran about 12mi at a constant 9250 revs within the first 1000mi. The kristopher_d break-in consists of driving the snot out of the car, and using dino oil for the first 1000 miles, then changing over to synthetic. I'm making ~200whp with ZERO power mods.

Is that with or without pulling the ROOM fuse. -j/k

I just believe in breaking it in right and then I'll drive the snot out of it. I think this time I'm going to run synthetic and pre-mix. And do a carbon cleaning once a year or so.

did you not see the big orange tag that says if you use synthetic oil the warranty will be void?

It was on my new motor...

That's a joke, right? If not that is something I have never heard of before and kind of a big deal. I would like to see them hold that argument in court! Regardless, I recommend posting that pic over on the "cumulative synthetic oil" discussion if it is real (FWIW I use Royal Purple full synth 5w-30)

I only have the one image there. I will look to seeif I have more of the label and how it was attached.

I just have two, and it was in the shipping crate. it had been wired to the motor itself.

Cool Reman....

I've seen that tag before.

It was attached by some doughhead at the plant that rebuilds them, only the US reman engines have 'em, not new Japan ones.

Seems like that myth will long outlast the rotary engine....

Nice pics of the transplant - I hope I never have to go through that process.

They can't legally void your warranty for synthetic oil. If it matches the SAE weights the engine is rated for, it's oil for the engine, according to US law. It's a nice try, though, to get out of testing.

Break in with natural Dyno, run synthetic. I'd think they'd be more upset about how I drive the engine than the oil I use anyway.

Cool

Today I drop my angelica off , at Milan Mazda and I did see my new engine and they had two other engine and all of them had the warning sticker about the synthetic oil on the engine. I am all so getting new front brake pads and they are butting on the pcv valve, to stop the milky oil at the dips stick!!!

But I feel bad. It is wrong to miss your car, more then you miss your own daughter? right!!!

Perhaps, but your daughter's not having a heart transplant like your car is.

I was afraid of it also, but the new motor is stronger than the old motor. So I got over it.

University Mazda is great by the way.

They were out driving it around a little while ago when I called so let's hope it runs like brand new.
