Official Apple Blossom 2004 thread - 30 April - 2 May, 2004 - Wenatchee, WA

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The largest gathering of Rotary Enthusiasts in the Pacific Northwest is back for it's third year in a row. The Northwest Rotor Rally will again be held in conjunction with the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival in Wenatchee, WA on 30 April - 2 May, 2004.

I know we are 6 months away, but the planning required to pull this off needs to start early. Rotary Power Northwest is expanding committee membership to be able to handle the increased attendance as the word is out on this event. In addition, this is the first organized and sponsored event (in the Northwest) for the newest member's of the Rotary Community, the RX-8 owners!

This year is going to be bigger than ever. We have exclusive use of a mobile rolling chassis dyno and are planning on having a parts and accessories swap meet for attendees.

Sponsorship is the key to making this event memorable and affordable for all. If you know someone who you think should be a sponsor, I can get you (or them) the information. This is an excellent opportunity for a sponsor to get their name out to the newest members of our family.

We have cars and owners from all over Washington, Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia.

Additional information is available at the event's website www.nwrotorrally.org

Thank you,

Brad Berger
RPNW Apple Blossom Coordinator

That is the plan! However, it is not up to me. I've done all I can do. It's up to the guys at Corksport. I think I will have my car back in January!

O.K. for all of you who just can't wait, let me bring you up to speed.

If you would like, you can contact Julie O'Brien at the Wenatchee Red Lion and reserve a room under our block of 30 rooms. We are listed under Rotary Power Northwest. Julie works Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you call during another time and don't talk to Julie, then you are rolling the dice. While the other clerks (according to the hotel) "should" be able to help you, last year there were a few screw-up that made keeping track of everyone in our group a bit difficult. Be sure to ask for Julie and be sure to be booked under Rotary Power Northwest. The hotel will require a credit card to hold the room. Your card will not be charged until the event. The hotel has a very generous cancellation policy. You can cancel prior to Wednesday 28 April, 2004 without penalty. If you cancel after that or you fail to show up, you will be charged one night.

The hotel is located at
1225 N. Wenatchee Ave
Wenatchee, WA 98801
(509) 663-0711
(509) 662-8175

As discussed before it is $99 for single or double occupancy and an additional $10 per person up to 4 people:

one person $99
two people $99
three people $109
four people $119
(taxes are additional)

The hotel will be providing a fenced off, guarded car corral for rotary powered cars only!

I have the Dyno booked and have a very warm reception from Valley North Chevron, The Director of Administration for the City of Wenatchee and the Chief of Police regarding running the Dyno from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Friday and Saturday Nights. This will allow 20 cars to be put on the dyno. If there is a higher demand, we have permission to run the dyno at the Classy Chassis Car Show on Saturday. The location for the Dyno is directly acroos the street from the hotel. Essentially those cars running on Friday can go there directly from the Classy Chassis Parade, everyone else can go park and walk across the street. This will avoid unnecessary movement of our vehicles in and out of our car corral. I wrote a letter to the Chief so that we can post written permission and avoid any problems with the Police. I am sure that the Dyno will attract a lot of attention. (They don't know that, but they will obviuosly find that out once I already have written permission ) If you are interested in the Dyno, please let me know by sending an e-mail to 3Rotor@nopistons.com. I am hoping to offer it in a package for $50 (for three good runs and all the graphs), but if we don't get enough sponsorship, then those interested might have to pay up to the full $75

I have, however, received some encouraging early commitments to sponsorship so I believe we will be offering up the packages again, but we won't know for sure until January or so. Mazda was one of the big reasons we were able to do so much last year. I do have a couple of Mazda Dealerships where I do business joining in this year. If you have a favorite dealership that might be willing to pitch in some sponsorship bucks, let me know - especially if you just bought an RX-8 from them!

Start talking this event up with anyone you know that has any interest in rotary powered cars. It is a great event. The bigger we can make it, the more inclined people are to participate in it as sponsors.

3Rotor: give Foothills Mazda (in Spokane) a call and see if they would be a sponsor. I bought my Winning Blue AT from them and I plan to attend the rally.

It would be better if you would talk to them since you have the relationship. I can e-mail you or them a packet, or you can refer them to the nwrotorrally.org website - it has all the info on there.

Apple Blossom 2004

If you haven't attended this event in the past I'd strongly recommend that you try to make it in 2004. You won't be sorry.
There was quite a showing of rotaries at the last two and I think Brad anticipates even more at the next one.
Brad did an outstanding job setting up the past events that included parades, show, hotel, banquet, sponsorship, and lots of goodies. You can see from what he's written that 2004 will have more to offer and be even better!

You might let me know if Post Falls Mazda is sponsoring or not becuase I know that they have sold a couple of 8's including mine in the Spokane area. That would be my wife and my B-Day weekend so we will be there most likely.

They are not a sponsor, but I would love it if you could make that happen. I can send you a file or they can read all of the info on the site:
www.nwrotorrally.org

I find it is always best if someone who has a relationship with a dealer ask. If I call out of the blue, the results are normally "NO", but when I ask people I know and have done business with the resulta are almost always "YES."

Let me know which way you want to go..

Thanx

Brad

A quick update: I will be submitting the sponsorship packet to Mazda in a few weeks and should hear from them by early March. Mark it on your calendar because it looks like we will be able to offer the packages again this year, including a package that with the dyno. I have gathered a few more sponsors so the raffle prizes should be pretty damn awesome. One sponsor has even suggested they would offer one of their RX-8 piggy back computers!

3rotor:

I called Post Falls Mazda and talked with the lady who handles sponsorships, etc. She told me that they would not be able to sponsor (i.e. advertise) because there is a Mazda dealer in Wenatchee. She did say that they may be able to provide some hats if they receive a letter from the rally organizers.

Next week I'll contact Foothills Maza in Spokane about sponsorship. I talked with them two months ago about it and was told to contact them again when I had more specific info.

I let Canzoomer know about the event and he seems interested. It would be nice to get an opportunity to meet such an RX-8 enthusiast. Maybe some of us could save some money on shipping costs with his Stage I ECU upgrade.

NW Rotor Rally Sign-ups are OPEN!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The biggest Rotary event of the year for the Pacific Northwest is back again! The 3rd Annual NW Rotor Rally is going to be even bigger and better! The packages are back and those lucky few (the first 20) will even be able to add the dyno for less than ½ price! Please visit the official website at www.nwrotorrally.org for complete information. As the popularity of this event had grown, it has been necessary to delegate some of the responsibilities to other members. As a result, I need everyone to carefully read the procedure for signing up this year very carefully.

Before we begin, let me first thank all of our sponsors who are making this event possible:

At the Platinum Level:
Mazda North America
First Command
University Mazda (Seattle)

At the Gold Level:
Corksport
Pineapple Racing
Atkins Rotary
Almaden Mazda
Mazdatrix
RacingBeat
Russ Dunmire Mazda (Tacoma)
Ground Zero Motorsports

Other Sponsors:
Rotary Engine Illustrated
Valley North Chevron (the official gas station of the NW Rotor Rally)
Nopistons.com
Red Lion Inn – Wenatchee

Here are the sign-up procedures:
1. Read the instructions carefully and completely J
2. Register at the Wenatchee Red Lion Inn. Ask to be booked in the Rotary Power Northwest room block. Our POC at the hotel is Kelly Virnig. The telephone number for the hotel is (509) 663-0711. You will need to hold your room with a credit card. I encourage those tight on funds to talk to other forum and/or club members about sharing a room. The room is very affordable with two, three and even four people to a room! This needs to be booked by 25 March, then we lose the remaining unused rooms in our block. The hotel has a very generous cancellation policy and your card won’t be charged until 48 hours prior to check-in. There is a two night minimum. The hotel will be providing a guarded, fenced off car corral for our group only.
3. Use the sign-up form on the website. Start by clicking the link at the top of the page. This takes you to the page that actually gets filled out, even though it looks just like the page you started at (the address is slightly different). Please fill out the form completely and press submit.
4. Pay for your entry. Dyno slots are not confirmed until payment is made. You may pay for your entry two ways. The first is to submit the payment via Paypal. Send the money to treasurer@rpnw.org. The second is to send a check or money order payable to RPNW to NW Rotor Rally c/o Brad Berger, 8820 59th Ave SW, Suite 200, Lakewood, WA 98499.
5. The last step is to print out the PDF Sign-up form for the Classy Chassis and send it along with all of the entry requirements to Scott Nagler, 1213 E. Oakridge Drive, Boise, ID 83716. You may also e-mail the form and requirements to Scott at his e-mail address raspyrx7@earthlink.net if you have the capability to do so. Do not follow the instructions at the top of the form – they do not apply to us. Do not send it to the Wenatchee address. Please send it to Scott with the following items:
a. The completed form
b. A color photo of your car
c. A copy of your current registration
d. A copy of your current insurance card

The deadline to enter is 25 March. This allows us time to process the paperwork and enter everyone as a group. They will be breaking us into more appropriate categories (like last year) once we know who is coming. This also allows us to offer it in one of the packages.

Again the deadline for all of this is 25 March! Don’t procrastinate and don’t miss out on a great time.

I have tried to make the website as complete as possible. I think just about any question you could come up with is answered somewhere on the site. However, feel free to contact me if you need additional information.

I look forward to seeing everyone there.

Sincerely,

Brad Berger

Hello all,

I would like to remind every one that the 25th is the last day to register, INWR has a few members already going, and this should be a blast. I am really looking forward to meeting everyone.

The deadline is for the 25th of march, about a week away. So don't procrastinated anymore! I signed up today and I am sure glad I did.

We are getting down to the wire. Believe it or not, Apple Blossom and the NW Rotor Rally is just 6 weeks away! There is still room at the hotel and we still have packages left and a few dyno slots. Just to give you an idea of how popular this event in Wenatchee is, I already had to book 2005, because a number of other groups wanted to come to the hotel, but past guests (who behaved themselves - well at least well enough) get first dibs. So here we are six weeks out from our 2004 event and I am already having to sign the contract for the next year! Additionally, I got a very generous 2 day extension on our room block. If our rooms are not booked by 1 April, then they are going to go to the Corvette Club. They booked all there rooms and need overflow. Is that how it's going to be? We are going to be shown up by a bunch of pretencious bangers? Where is the rotary spirit people?:D Get off the stick, get your room booked, send in your response form from the website, send your stuff to Scott in Idaho for the Classy Chassis events and Grand Parade and then submit your payment -it's that easy!

Just a few final thoughts as we approach the biggest Rotary Event of the year in the Pacific Northwest…
We have some awesome sponsors this year and they again deserve a big round of recognition for their generous support!!
· Mazda North America
· University Mazda
· Corksport
· Pineapple Racing
· Mazdatrix
· Alamden Mazda
· Atkins Rotary
· Ground Zero Motorsports
· Russ Dunmire Mazda
· Racing Beat
· Rotary Engine Illustrated
· NoPistons.com
· Valley North Chevron - Wenatchee

Many of them made both cash contributions, as well as, contributions to the raffle. The stuff for the raffle this year is better than ever!! When you arrive, I will have a list of what is available in the raffle so that you can determine whether or not you wish to purchase additional tickets - $2 each or 3 for $5.

Valley North Chevron is the Official Gas Station of NW Rotor Rally. Please buy your gas at that station. It is located directly across the street from the hotel. The owner graciously offered his property for setting up our Dyno. No one else was interested in giving us the room to set it up. All he asked is that we purchase our gas there. So let’s show him our appreciation!!

When you check into the hotel, you will be given your gift bag and a box dinner. In the bag you will find your raffle tickets, the list of raffle prizes, event-shirt(s), and an event program. The event program has lists all of the contact information from our sponsors, as well as, the schedule of events and the maps of the area.

We will depart from the hotel at 4:45 and caravan over to East Wenatchee for the Classy Chassis Pre-show and Car Parade. It the event we get separated, follow the map in the event program. We will return to the hotel immediately following the parade and begin the Dyno session with T-n-T Dyno.

I have Car Corral Passes that I will hand out as you check into the corral. Please display these passes in your window so that we can control access to the corral.

There are tons more events planned for the weekend, as you know.

Drive safe, and I look forward to seeing everyone in Wenatchee on Friday…

Brad (3Rotor)
