OT: Great restaurants in Seattle

Am driving down to seattle (in the 8 of course) the first weekend in Nov. and want to treat my girl to a really nice meal - am looking for something Italian or Steakhouse (we're from Vancouver, we have seafood...) and fairly hi-end. Make that really hi-end. Any suggestions from locals?

I dont know of any high end Italian, but if you want high end steaks the place is "The Met". The Metropolitan (Grill?). Ruth's Chris has great steaks as well. Also The Broolyn is a great steakhouse (serves all types of food as well). The Broolyn is right next to Benaroya Hall.

Each place will run you around $100-$150 U.S. for two, depending on alcohol.

I've been to a lot of the high end restaurants in Seattle. The Met is great, as is Ruth's Chris. BUT, if you want the total package, great food, people, and unbelievable view....make reservations at the restauraunt atop the Space Needle. (I forgot the name, if it even has one). I've eaten there three times, and for me, it cannot be beat. It has a wide variety of food, as well. Steaks, chicken, seafood, they have it all.

These guys are on the right track....for the best steaks....the met is it :D
For the view and total package.....the space needle.......and the food is good.....just not the best.
If you want Italian.....the best place is Buco Di Beppo's

I'll try and think of more and post later....too busy right now

Space Needle is great, don't bother with dressing up though. We went there so I could propose to Lissa, there's us dressed up, next to us were a family in shorts and jeans (with sceaming kiids). So much for romance...

Beppo's is great. I've been out of Seattle area for a year now, I miss it a bunch..., plus no hurricane's up there. There's a great seafood resteraunt (yeah, there's lots of them, hold on a sec) down in the complex behind hooters, on the water overlooking the marina. Between I-5 and the space needle. Anyone know the one I'm talking about? Great place, nice atmosphere, great seafood.

Stanley and Seaforts in Tacoma, not too many places besides the Space Needle can beat the view and the food is the best tasting expensive food I have ever had.

The MET, hands down the best restaurant steak I've ever had. My wife does better on the grill at home, but the meat cuts aren't nearly as large and nice.

I know you say no seafood, but Seattle has the best seafood restauraunt I've ever been to also. It's called Salty's, and probably has the best view from the ground. It's directly across the bay from the downtown area, and is considered very expensive, and has some of the best food. I don't know of anywhere else you can have dinner ans see the entire city at once, from the Space Needle to Safeco Field. It's freaking awesome at night when it's all lit up. I went with 2 other people, and out tab came to about $266 for Lobster, crablegs, desert and cocktails. Damn, I got myself wanting to go back now it was soooooo good.

I think Labop is refering to Duke's at the south end of Lake Union. Right next to that is Daniel's steakhouse which is also a very high end ($$$$) steak place with a great view.

There's a nice Italian place on 5th Avenue called Tulio's that's a big step up from your average pasta provider.
