Thumbs up Paintless Dent Repair

Hello all,

Just got a pretty good size door ding (done by my wife I might add, acci"dent"ally of course, hehe thats what they all say) fixed today by the Auto "Dent" ist. The dent was in the passenger side rear door. It was amazing wathcing him work on it. The dent dissapeared in front of my eyes! I knew nothing about paintless dent removal untill I was reffered by the local body shop in town. Anyways, the guy did a marvelous job and I swear it is gone. I even ran my hand over the area and couldn't tell.

On another note, I am loving this car! Did I say loving it, yes I did. I can't seem to stop driving it.

I could go on and on. Hopefully see some of you NW stener's around the road soon. See ya.

They kind of uses different thin metal rod with various kinds of tips and goes through whatever gaps and holes on reverse side of the body panel, rub against the dent to pop it back to original conditions.

More info here.

Hello all NW estners!

I had taken the car to the shop and was wondering how much it would cost dreading the fact that they would have to take the entire door apart to fix it, paint it, and blend it with the front door. Anyways, the owner of the shop reffered me to a paintless repair specialists. This guy returned my call right away, came to my house, and fixed it. Depending on the location, they basically take there tools and work the dent out from the inside out. In my case, he had to drill a hole through the rear door. (the surface where the ...hmmm, I can't think of how to describe that part, anyways, non noticable) Then took his tools and 45 minutes later it was gone. No repainting, or nothing. It also cost me only 175.00 which was a bargain compared to the shop estimate of 500.00. The hole they made is plugged with a plug that looks like it was supposed to be there in the first place. I have had friends look at it and they could'nt tell that the black plug wasnt there to begin with. Not to mention, my door didn't have to be completely torn apart, the repainting of the door and blending of the front door was unnecessary. I wish I had a before pic! I don't own a digital camera otherwise I would send at least and after, but I can assure you that it looks just like it did before. Just take a look at your rear door on the passenger side, and there you go.

Did I say this car is absolutely a dream. Did I? I'm Lovin It.

I got one the other day

I got dinged really bad the other day at work. The guy who did it came looking for me. He had parked his rental car next to my RX-8 and upon opening the door, the wind blew it wide open. It's pretty bad. There are 3 dents in a vertical line on the front passenger door. Only the big one shows up on camera. The other 2 are much smaller, but really obvious from certain angles. A really good body shop here gave me a $740 estimate. We called his insurance and got that ball rolling. Meanwhile, today I went to a PDR specialist at the Mercedes dealership. He said he could pull them out beautifully for about $100 - and of course no jacking with the paint. So, that is a relief for me AND the dinger. I'm just really lucky the guy was honest and fessed up. Here is my before photo.

And another angle

The smaller ones are not in these photos, because they weren't very visible to the camera.

If the guy/gal doing the work is good, you won't be able to tell at all. The plug they put in the hole looks natural. On mine, the plug looks like it belongs there and was installed originally on the assembly line. Good luck.
