Please Help...Just Put on New Tires
So I went to the tire store because my RX8 had a slow leak on the rear left tire. I went to Les Shwab I was told that was the best place to go. They told me I need to put new tires on the rear( I put on the Toyos the guy told me they were great for the RX8). So I did just that. I dont know alot about cars yet. I drove it home and now I cant even take a corner. I dont know what happened to my wonderful car. It makes a very strange sound when it turns and you can feel a ticking. I am taking it to Milam Mazda where I bought it from just last month. It is a 04 with 20000 miles on it. Has anyone had this problem?
Thank you....Christina

Sounds like an odd problem. Hope your dealer visit goes well. So as far as tires go, I just had mine replaced (as some already know).
Sorry to hear your visit to Les Schwab didn't work out. I highly doubt it's the tires, but I wonder if something they did with the install caused the problem. Les Schwab ALWAYS pushes Toyos though. I think it's some what annoying, the reason why they do that (I was told by a former Les Schwab manager) is because the two comapnies Les Schwab and Toyo basically would have sunk without the other in the late 70s.
I think there was an earlier post about problems with discount tire, so I descided I needed to becareful finding a place to put on my tires.
I didn't want some minimum wage kid to swap my tires, so I went to one of the tirerack recommended installers. The place I went to was pretty much the best tire/alignment place I've ever been to. The guy there does all his own work, he doesn't have any hired hands. His dad started the first store in Seattle and his son now works that store and he opened the store in Bellevue for fun. So I guess their family has been doing this for over 30 years?
So if anyone ever needs a good tire/alignment place, go to Tru Line in Bellevue. It's a bit on the pricey side, but I guess I paid for peace of mind that the work was done right. I ended up paying $26 a tire to mount and balance and $140 for an alignment. I'll post the alignment sheet if anyone is interested.

My guess is the wheel lug nuts are not tightened properly. They should not have had to do anything with the alignment at all. The tires will be a little greasy at first due to having to heat cycle them and wear off the mold release agent that will be on the surface until you put a few miles on them. Either way it should not make any kind of strange noises at all.
1) Check lug nut torque
2)check balance
3) check tire pressure
If you can't get any satisfaction from them bring it to University Mazda. They have been an excellent dealer so far.

lug nut tq should be at 108 ft lbs..
this is important. and as shawn said the the slick feeling will go away. it is more noticeable as the fronts dont have release compound to slick them up..

Thank You
For all the help. The idiot that put my tires on didnt realize I need the front ones done too. So he just told me I needed the rear. Some how it messed up the abs so the brakes were going off for traction control due to the tread difference. I now have four new tires and need to replace my front breaks. Oh boy what a way to start the weekend. Anyone want to go for a drive tomorrow I need to blow off some steam lol I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Christina

Yea, They said the traction difference was throwing the car off. I dont know I just know I can turn around corners again. It was really weird I made the kid get in the car with me and scared him lol I guess he isnt used to driving in a fast car lol

Do you have a white Rx8 I have been seen one around Meridian Ave for the past one or two weeks, and we saw one, by the start point of the drive today.

I'd say most of your issue was having different tires front and back. Never mind the difference in rolling circumference, just different traction characteristics. The rears obviously wanted to behave different from the fronts. This reminds me, I need to order some new tires (I'm almost on slicks again, after just 18 months).
Sorry you couldn't make it to the drive, would've been great to have more cars out there.
