Premiere Mazda SE Portland
I have been wondering about this place for a while. I knew it was new at about a year but didnt know much more. I havent talked to anyone yet that bought or had service there.
So a couple of days ago i stopped by to check it out. First off the its a standalone. That in itself is a good sign. Its a very new building very clean looking and the lot is very neat. I was greeted by a couple of salespeople who saw me drive in. I was headed right for the door so they must have assumed i was going to see someone in particular because they didnt try to corral me other thant he polite greetings. Once inside i was greeted by a younger guy who seemed very green and a little unsure of himself. We chatted a little. He told me they had been open just 10 months. That would be why they dont have a Mazda "score" yet. They compile customer satisfaction info for a year before the initial score. I asked about the Mazda5 a little and he was able to answer a couple questions but not this one particular one i had. He said he was sure he had seen something in the brochure(imagine that- he was reading the literature about a model that hasnt arrived yet, a novel idea) but that they had run out and didnt expect more until the cars start to arrive. He then checked thru a couple of the Fuel mags they had on a coffe table but couldnt find anything. So green but interested and promising. Not pushy tho, didnt try to steer me in another direction.
Then i mentioned that i was in an RX-8 club. he said he loves the car and loves selling it. I said that some of my freinds and I were not very pleased with the service we had at some of the other area dealers. He told me that he had heard that from a couple of people with other mazdas also and "you should meet our service manage".
He Walked me back to an office and introduced me to Jim Brown the assisstant service manager and relayed to him that i was in a club and interested in the service. Jim was very nice and seemed to be on the ball. Of course i only spent about 5 minutes with him total but thats the impression i left with. I told him that myself and oterhs werent very happy with service elsewhere. He was very pleased to tell me they had a Mazda Master Tech on staff saying he knew how important that was. In fact this Master TEch had worked acouple of other places ,thomason and then tonkin when thomason got out of Mazdas. He said that the tech didnt like working for Tonkin and had been dieing to get out of there and couldnt wait for Premiere to be built so he could go there. I asked about their WDS- he said that They were updated to the very latest level. he thought that might be the last wds update since they were soon going to move to the new machines. I have heard they are rolling out new hardware so this could be right.
All in all i had a pleasant 15 minutes or so at Premiere. enough that i think i will schedule my next service there to see how it goes. I wonder if they are hiring? My wife is always saying i should just work for Mazda.
Hopefully next time i can talk to the tech a little

right now I use royal moore and its going fine, my first oil change was with premier mazda but then I moved from Oregon City to Lake Oswego. one thing I did not like was the technician changing my radio stations presets, told the manager what happened, he called and apologized and promised it'll never happen again.
how to get to them: coming from I-205 south, you take exit 9 and turn right at the exit, keep on going straight on mcloughlin for 3-4 miles its on your left side.

i have been told that the master tech at Premiere is possibly the only master tech in town. also there is a masterr tech who lives in portland who came in 5th place in the national master tech competition last lime. i have not yet confirmed if they are one and the same.

Baught 2 8s from Premiere a week apart. They are decent but it was when they were only open for like 2 months and i had to resigne papers 2 times on both cars, the finance people were GREEN to say the least. When i have taken my 8 in for waranty work Jim is very friendly and always asks if i want my car washed he says he knows how picky us 8 owners are. I never get any regular maitnence done there as i manage a Jiffy lube in portland so i do it all myself for both cars. If anyone is intrested in where you can get a quality fast service for your 8 i will post the info so you can come in for service and we can shoot the **** about 8s. let me know if anyone is intrested. NO Jiffy Lube bashing please i have heard it ALL in the 15 years i have been doing it.
