Race in July (2010, Seattle Area)
Oh man, epic late this month… my bad. Lots of events too! Including one on Monday I’ll be going to. There’s a new kind of Porsche school listed this month. If people are interested in it, I’ll email Robert and see what it’s all about. So Alfa has no events in July or August, kind of a bummer.
I'll try and keep up with who plans on attending what event. If it's too much of a pain in the ***, I'll stop. Regardless of if I update the Members planning on attending lists, we can use this thread to organize meeting up to go to an event etc. as well. The Tacoma Mall Krispy Kreme has worked out pretty well for Bremerton based events. Southcenter Mall would work out better for Packwood events for those going *** early. Click the location link for directions to any of the sites. For PR, click the directions link on their site (it's in Java so I can't link straight to it).
Membership Requirements:
Pre-registration varies from Event to Event. Pre-Registration is always cheaper, sometimes required, but not always available more than 2 weeks before the event. Always check the link for a given event.
Remember to Bring:

Membership Requirements:
- Alfa Events: No Membership Required
- BEAC Events: Must be a Boeing Employee
- BSCC Events: Must be a BSCC Member [$20 Membership]
- Porsche Pacific Northwest Events: Schools - Porsche Club Sponsor or Membership in one of the following clubs: PCA, Alfa, Audi, BMWCCA, BSCC, Corvette, Mini, Viper, or PDC club member
- Porsche Club Oregon Region: Unknown, see http://www.oregonpca.org/
- Proformance Racing School: Must be a client for all non-school events, going to a school makes you a client, or be a member of the Alfa or Porsche clubs.
- NWR SCCA Events: Membership Required [$10 Weekend memberships available on site, full memberships available online for $45 or $60, up to 3 weekend memberships can count towards a full one]
- SCCA Oregon Region Events: Membership Required [$10 Weekend memberships available on site, full time memberships must be Dual Region]
- WWSCC - No Membership Required (I think)
Pre-registration varies from Event to Event. Pre-Registration is always cheaper, sometimes required, but not always available more than 2 weeks before the event. Always check the link for a given event.
Remember to Bring:
- Oil - During the lapping days you can burn as much as a quart! Autocross days are less, but it's still worth topping off at the beginning of the event
- Sunblock - Especially for the autocross events where you'll spend half the time working the course
- Water - No matter what the event, it's going to be hot in your helmet and car
- Helmet (If you have one that meets the requirements) - All clubs require a helmet, some will lend you one in exchange for your license, others will charge you money to rent one. Helmet Requirements (always double check the club's listing!):
- AutoX - Snell Approved M2000 or higher
- Lapping - Snell Approved SA2005 or higher
- Cash - At almost all Bremerton events, the local Lions Club will show up and serve cheap burgers, hot dogs and Philly Cheese Steaks but they're cash only
- Your Checkbook - All autocross events that involve timing equipment have a rule: If you car touches the timing equipment, it's a $100 fine payable on the spot. You can sometimes run and pick up money from an ATM down the street but it's easier if you have your checkbook handy.
- Don't be intimidated by this, in reality, it's very rare. The club doesn't WANT this to happen, so they setup the course to try and prevent it from happening
- Gas
- AutoX - 1/2 tank or more
- AutoX Practice - Full tank
- School - Full Tank
- Lapping - Full Tank

Pre-registration for Monday's event closes Tonight at 8pm. There's no penalty for pre-registering and not showing up and you can't pay until you get there. If you're even thinking of going, you should always pre-register.

Man... well, today's course was once again very fast and it was a lot of fun... but it was way too short If the weather and timing works out, I'll hit Bremerton Next weekend but honestly, no taxiway sucks a lot.
Tanit is VERY quick in that FD. His driving style reminds me a lot of Brad's: Sideways everywhere but with excellent car control
Threw together a few of my runs. First one was my fastest by a lot and was my last of the day. With one more run, I think I could've gotten it clean but we only got 4 in the afternoon.

Yah, I think I was back and forth over the shift beep in those lane changes.
That first run in the video is the last run of the day. I finally felt like I had a good rhythm for the lane changes in the middle there and took them way faster than any of my previous runs (which is why I overcooked the final turn around, my braking point was for a much lower speed). I hit at least 2 cones while doing it though, and then plowed the obvious one in the L box for the turn around.
Thanks

I just asked my boss for the 30th off though, so I'll definitely go to that one. As for next weekend... World Cup final or AutoX? Pretty tough choice... We'll see.

Yesterday was a fricking blast. Sadly the course was a bit short. But yeah it was crazy fun. I need to start taking my foot off the gas pedal more. haha
Nick you car is pretty solidly setup. I kinda like how loud it is hahaa. Maybe my mid-pipe need to go back on the car.
oh and the PGP tomorrow doesn't seem to be a night event anymore ;( I dont want to take off work. I guess i'll wait for the time attack next friday
