Race in October! (2009, Seattle Area)
New for this month: Time Trials! They’re a middle ground between Autocross and Club Racing. In practice, what this means is timed lapping days at Bremerton where your best lap stands as your competition time. Looks like they may do these at PR sometimes however depending on the level, it may require a full cage. More info here. Also, I finally figured out where the real Proformance website was
I'll try and keep up with who plans on attending what event, but I was pretty bad about that last month . If it's too much of a pain in the ***, I'll stop. Regardless of if I update the Members planning on attending lists, we can use this thread to organize meeting up to go to an event etc. as well. The Tacoma Mall Krispy Kreme has worked out pretty well for Bremerton based events. Southcenter Mall would work out better for Packwood events for those going *** early. Click the location link for directions to any of the sites. For PR, click the directions link on their site (it's in Java so I can't link straight to it).
Membership Requirements:
Pre-registration varies from Event to Event. Pre-Registration is always cheaper, sometimes required, but not always available more than 2 weeks before the event. Always check the link for a given event.
Remember to Bring:

Membership Requirements:
- Alfa Events: No Membership Required
- BEAC Events: Must be a Boeing Employee
- BSCC Events: Must be a BSCC Member [$20 Membership]
- Porsche Pacific Northwest Events: Schools - Porsche Club Sponsor or Membership in one of the following clubs: PCA, Alfa, Audi, BMWCCA, BSCC, Corvette, Mini, Viper, or PDC club member
- Proformance Racing School: Must be a client for all non-school events, going to a school makes you a client, or be a member of the Alfa or Porsche clubs.
- NWR SCCA Events: Membership Required [$10 Weekend memberships available on site, full memberships available online for $45 or $60, up to 3 weekend memberships can count towards a full one]
- SCCA Oregon Region Events: Membership Required [$10 Weekend memberships available on site, full time memberships must be Dual Region]
- WWSCC - No Membership Required (I think)
Pre-registration varies from Event to Event. Pre-Registration is always cheaper, sometimes required, but not always available more than 2 weeks before the event. Always check the link for a given event.
Remember to Bring:
- Oil - During the lapping days you can burn as much as a quart! Autocross days are less, but it's still worth topping off at the beginning of the event
- Sunblock - Especially for the autocross events where you'll spend half the time working the course
- Water - No matter what the event, it's going to be hot in your helmet and car
- Helmet (If you have one that meets the requirements) - All clubs require a helmet, some will lend you one in exchange for your license, others will charge you money to rent one. Helmet Requirements (always double check the club's listing!):
- AutoX - Snell Approved M2000 or higher
- Lapping - Snell Approved SA2005 or higher
- Cash - At almost all Bremerton events, the local Lions Club will show up and serve cheap burgers, hot dogs and Philly Cheese Steaks but they're cash only
- Your Checkbook - All autocross events that involve timing equipment have a rule: If you car touches the timing equipment, it's a $100 fine payable on the spot. You can sometimes run and pick up money from an ATM down the street but it's easier if you have your checkbook handy.
- Don't be intimidated by this, in reality, it's very rare. The club doesn't WANT this to happen, so they setup the course to try and prevent it from happening
- Gas
- AutoX - 1/2 tank or more
- AutoX Practice - Full tank
- School - Full Tank
- Lapping - Full Tank

Man, the more I read about these time trials the cooler they sound. It uses SCCA rules for classing but adds additional classes. There're a lot of rules around etiquette and where/when passing is allowed, but they run a practice session, a qualifying session, then competition heats. The detailed rules are here but for Track Time Trials, you don't need a cage or a firesuit.

Nice job - that's a LOT of work pulling all that info together. I realized today I committed to meet some friends on the 3rd, but I'ma try to get out of it and go to the drivers skills day instead.

I'll be at the first two events for sure and probably the Alfa day on the 15th.
I seem to remember them saying the last Alfa event I went to at Pacific was the last one for the year though
You sure about that one Nick?
Edit: just checked, the 15th is at Bremerton. I'm not going to go to a Bremerton track day. It just doesn't look that interesting.

Well, unless something comes up today that would take precedence, I'm planning on going to the member day on Friday as well. My car should tick over 20,000 miles on the way there (a bit over 19.000 but I don't drive much during the week), seems a fitting way to celebrate Might even see about entering the normal Porsche AutoX... see if I can spank around some cars worth 3-5x as much :D
