Race this weekend! (7/17-7/19/2009)
This is "one of those weekends"!
Friday 7/17:
3 Days, 5 chances. So why aren't YOU racing this weekend? Registration is still open for all 5 events!
If you've never gone to one before or even if you've done an autocross/trackday before, I highly recommend the Porsche Skills day on Saturday. It's a lot of fun, you'll learn a lot and get the most seat time outside of the BSCC track day and it's all about making you a better, safer, and faster driver. Another plus for the skills day, I think we finally convinced Rawrx8 to do an event! The only catch is this is their "family day". You either need to enter with 1 or more other members of your family (you can drive different cars) or be under age 25 to register.
These events are NOT going to kill your tires in 1 day (ok, maybe the BSCC lapping day will do visible damage...), you won't destroy your engine (unless you do something silly like don't check your oil before one) and one and all they're as low risk as you're going to find. The worst you're going to do is end up with a couple of cone marks on your car but even those you can protect against by covering strategic areas in painter's tape. If you like your car and like driving fast, THIS IS YOUR WEEKEND!
Friday 7/17:
- BSCC Lapping Day [Bremerton, WA]
- Porsche North West Driver Skills day (Family Day, <25 or as a family only) [Bremerton, WA]
- SCCA Pro-Solo - "In Search of LeadFoot" - Day 1 [Packwood, WA]
- BSCC Autocross Event #5 [Bremerton, WA]
- SCCA Pro-Solo - "In Search of LeadFoot" - Day 2 [Packwood, WA]

This to me does not look like a guy who likes his car.

Way to Represent guys... we're down like 8 to 2 against the RX-7's for the BSCC event this weekend: http://www.autocrossscorekeeper.com/...iewentries.asp
Actually, I think that's the most 7's I've ever seen signed up for one of their events. It's gonna be an oily course

Were you seriously like spam refreshing the page or something? Must be doing hard work today eh Mike?
Shin got like one of the last spots.
Got a new windshield on Kaelies car so she is good to go. I got a list of **** I need to finish by tonight. Oil, check my drivers rear shock why its sitting so low, fix my seat and maybe if I have time take my wheels to get tires rotated.
Than wash and clean my car.

Damnit, I didn't buy tickets to that because I wasn't sure which day *I'd* be racing.... still 157 people pre-reg'ed for the BSCC event too, so the NHRA hasn't reduced the crowd much

August 15th @ Packwood. And that was totally sweet. I'm talking with TJ about getting one of those a month... I now need to negotiate with the BSCC board, so the more people willing to come to their meeting on August 4th to show support for the idea the better!

I will be! I think my housemate's going to co-drive my car as well, and then I see Arrrrrx-8 signed up already too. BSCC is fun but their events tend to be a bit overcrowded, so I'd recommend going to the morning session (means getting there by 7:30...).
Things to bring:
Your car will have to pass tech. This means no loose subs or amps in your trunk, your battery must be secure, they're going to check your wheel bearings by trying to shake the tires as well. Pretty much all of the bad looking accidents you see from Autox on youtube are from people's wheels falling off. Other than that, the only real risks in Bremerton are the cones themselves and the ditch along the taxiway. So far this season I think 1 person has gone in and it was on a practice day but given that the last SCCA event started on the Runway, there's a good chance this event will start from the taxiway and then it'll be a non-issue.
Things to bring:
- Sun screen
- Sun Glasses
- A hat
- A quart of oil (You won't burn a whole one, but you'll want to top off before running)
- Something to put all your stuff in when it's out of your car (optional)
- Close toed shoes

BSCC seems pretty chill, we'll see if we can get them to let you ride along on a couple runs, borrow a helmet. Honestly, because of where they let spectators go, you don't get to see much without participating and working.
