We will be here - just buzz us on the mobile before you leave. The earlier the better. I'm usually up at 8AM looking for trouble.

LOL - there WAS BBQ! Smoked two pork butts for 14 hours the night B4. Good times, until we threw a stuck APV code....

Turns out it was nothing we did - it was the APV gears. Without Dan's expert troubleshooting, we would not have had a successful outcome. The outer white gear under the APV motor was installed 180 degrees in the wrong direction.

It's fixed and on the street for break-in.

I will shoot some vids later this week. Can't really say it sounds different, but then again we kept it under 4K. Idles smooth as glass. We only drove slowly around the neighborhood and came back home and looked everything over. I need to get some break in miles on it.

Not a single leak was a welcome, well only one leak. I forgot to tighten down the oil filler neck, and when I went to pour oil in, well it made a slight mess. Brake cleaner should fix it clean.

Not likely..........It went through other people after you

Learned a lot about thinking out of the box on this one

You don't know the sinking fee,lng I got when the code kept coming up...and a new motor didn't help

Yea, in hindsight, it might have been me. I had the gears all apart also, so I will take the blame. We had three APV motors to use, so after Dan swapped the first motor out, and it still threw the code, we started thinking the worst - pull the engine back out to pull the LIM. Instead, we pulled the second APV motor off and found the gears rotated fine. No binding. We had my old LIM to study since the one on the rebuild was from another car. Studied the gears a bit and noticed the magnetic pickup on the outer white gear was not in the correct position for when all open or all closed. Struggled to get the gear out, swapped 180, bolted it all back up and it worked like a champ.

All that stress for a gear that Mazda should have designed to only index one way

Thank you for helping wrench also.

I looked up the ER30 battery specs for you, and they are 450 CCA with a 950 pulse amp for 5 seconds. It weighs 20lbs.

Threw the P0300 misfire code.
Found loose plug wire front trailing.
Threw the same P0300 misfire.
Installed new coils.
Now throwing P0302 cylinder 2 misfire.
Now resetting the ESS.
That cleared it.
Those coils were not that old - weird.
