Unhappy Roadtrip == Battle Scar

Went over to Coeur d'Alene with some friends for the weekend. Should've slept in yesterday. While I waited for the rest of the crew to wake up, I went out exploring. Sitting at a stop light, the pick-up in front of me suddenly starts backing up. Instinctively, I tossed Ruby in reverse, backed out of his way and...crunch, right into the grill guard on the p/u behind me.

I'll get pics up this evening. I expect they can straighten the main portion of the trunk, and I'll probably just pick up a new trunk lid from a wrecking yard. No damage to the truck I tagged, and the guy who nearly drove over my hood claims to want to help pay for the repairs (technically I should have sat there and let him tag me, but I prefer not having my cars totaled). We'll see what tune he's whistling when I call with the estimates.

Damn that sucks Kris, stuck between a rock and a hard place. Hope that guy actually comes through and pays for your damage. I probably would've done the same thing instinctively, plus probably hitting the horn as well.

Weren't you also in the process of getting some paintless dent repair too??

Yeah, I've been shopping for that too. I don't know. Maybe I'm starting to get careless (I don't think so, but maybe). This month has just sucked on that front.

I did have fun on the trip though. New personal fastest land speed (137), trying to catch 3 vettes and 3 porches. TRYING is the opperative word. Must get BOOST!

Eh, when it comes to those small dents it's not about you being careless it's everyone else being careless Usually some dumbass who swings their door too wide without thinking about it or giving a damn.

If you're still shopping for dent repair, I'd seriously consider the guy I recommended. He's a bit more expensive than other guys I shopped around too, but I'm so glad I chose his service. He let me watch him the entire time and made it look so easy, done within 60-90 minutes and knew exactly how to get to the damage without having to do anything drastic. He's done a bunch of RX-8s before including mine.

I think I'm out for any significant upgrades for a while, I just bought my first home lol 2 bed/2 bath condo here in Bellevue. The best part? Oversized 1 car garage

Ouch, that sucks. Sorry to hear about the damage. At least it's cosmetic and can probably be fixed to the point where you'll never be able to tell it happened. I can't even tell where my car got hit with that rock anymore.

Pics this evening.

Yeah, Worst case scenario, I pick up some tools and order a couple parts from trussville. Though, I'm hoping to find them in a wrecking yard. I initially thought the trunk lid might just need some straightening, but than one crease has it deformed all sorts of directions. Oh well, I still think it was the best outcome for the situation.

Hey Kris. I'm sorry to hear about that. What a crazy situation. Hopefully Dumbass in P/U #1 holds up his end of the bargain for you.

Aw man brutal. Especially with that long scratch right down the middle of the bumper

That would **** me off for sure - any estimates yet? Time to de-badge the trunk maybe?

If you need to replace the trunk you could score one of the Carbon Creations trunk lids and have it painted to match your car. The OEM trunk lid is about the same $$ (and it would have to be painted as well).

Save some weight, look the same, cost roughly the same? Just a thought.

I'd suggest taking it to Queen City Auto Rebuild to have the work done. I know I sound like a broken record with them but I am terribly pleased with the job they did on mine after the hit-and-run incident.

They will be able to fix your bumper so mercifully you won't need a new one. If they can pull out the dent in the trunk lid I'd guess you're looking at ~$1000 total repairs. If the trunk lid needs to be replaced it is going to be more like $1500.

What's their contact info. I haven't had a chance to get her in yet, so I'm by no means locked in.
