Well, I'm out. I was trying to find a "co-pilot" capable of driving my car in case my arm gave out and Robbie was already busy. In the meantime, my job "requested" that I work on Sunday and Monday, so now I can't make it. Grrrrr!!!! Perhaps next month.

A Friday event of somesort is in the works. And of course, if anyone else want to set one up, that'd be great. I'd certainly show up. But for the time being, Sunday's are when I'm scheduling drives.

Man, We Ain't Found Sh*t!
an interesting tidbit..
The area was homesteaded by Squire Lathum in 1855 before being sold to John Miller. The park was called "Miller's Glade" by the Miller family, who later changed the name to "Millersylvania." Miller's family gave the property to the state in 1921, stipulating that the land must forever be used as a park.
Millersylvania's buildings were constructed in 1935 almost entirely by hand by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Relics of a narrow-gauge railroad, and several skid roads used in the 1800s by the logging industry, remain on park grounds. Stumps of trees still carry notch scars where springboards supported brawny loggers.

I had a great time today. Thanks again Kris for putting together yet another great drive. Thanks to Shaun for the tire pressure tip. Made the whole car feel way better. Every time I go out with you guys, I learn something new about driving my car.

Here are my best pics from the drive today:
Starting point - Millersylvania State Park, south of Olympia:
The flagpole at the park entrance. Since it is Memorial weekend, you may see more flags in the pics:
Prior to the driver briefing, getting the camera ready for the group photo. And, yes, that's the famous Kari in the center of the group :
Part of the gang:
Closeup of the S2K and one of the two BMW's we had with us this time:
I think these cars belonged to our Ft. Lewis buddies, plus Nick's Evo. Notice the flags...:

More pics...
The 335i, plus the owner and his funny shirt - not sure if you can read it with this size pic:
So the purpose of this pic was NOT to show you the junk in Shaun's trunk , nor the junk in his car for that matter ... It was to point out that Shaun wasn't able to pull off the "pantless" weekend he said he would have because his wife was out of town . And Shaun... they weren't that pasty white! Oh yeah, and we were all checking our tire pressure....
Nick checking his pressure with Shaun and Matt looking on:
Ireland, on the left in blue, checking his pressure too. The S2K guys bs'ing on the right:

More pics...
Kris's 8, the 335i, and Shaun's 8:
A cute pic of Kari and her husband Quentin. Kari rode with me and Quentin rode with Shaun. Their Miata is in the shop.
The little park in Bucoda where we stopped to have a BBQ lunch:
Parking lot at the park. I think the Integra guy was having problems - you can see people checking it out:
Another view:
The park was alongside this river - I have no clue what the name of it was:
View of our picnic site from the river:
I tried to get a shot of the smoke that was billowing out from the canopy from the BBQ - look at the blue section of the canopy:
Closeup of the smoke, mostly because we were all laughing about it:
Kicking a football into the trees :
Packing up after lunch:
End of the drive - Tolmie State Park:
Saying goodbye in the Tolmie parking lot - some of us stayed and went to the beach:
Left side of the beach:
Middle of the beach - clam diggers:
View on the right side of the beach:
Kari on the beach, checking out her camera after she dropped it
Kari and Quentin - See ya later!
Fun drive! That's all. If you guys want these pics in a larger size, let me know...

Power!!
Great shots as always Linda! And technically they weren't pants but I don't think Quintin would have appreciated having to sit next to me in boxers all day.
I think I'm going to have to more "go faster" parts on my car just to keep up with you in your stock setup.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed themselves. Next time, I wont let the GPS get me off course. Despite the one hiccough, it made the job of leading this group SO much easier. Even with pre-driving the routes, I still find myself needing that extra bit of reminder that intersections are coming up. It used to be watch the road, check the mirror to make sure folks are keeping/catching up, check the book (flip pages), check the odometer, watch the road... repeat. Now, it's drive, check the mirror, drive, check the mirror, glance at the GPS when it starts talking, drive, check the mirror...
I'll get my pics up tonight.
