Talking Saturday Night Import Meets

Hey RX-8 people,

Thought I would drop a line in the NW RX-8 regional forum, and let you all know that on Saturday's myself and a few fellow import enthusiests will be hosting an organized meet at Top Foods in Auburn.

We welcome everyone, but ask that you be courteous to the property owners and abide by the basic laws of the land. We've had too many negative experiences in the past with people not following the rules, so a few rules are enforced to keep the asshatery to an all time low. Violate the rules, and you'll be asked to leave.

Who/what/where/when?

Who's comin out there?: MATURE and Responsible Import Tuner enthusiests (domestics welcome!) willing to have fun, and share a laugh or two.
What the heck is this meet for?
The meet was put together by Project Alpha Productions and 07blueWRX from Nasioc.com - to promote local import performance, and keep the streets safe from illegal street racing.
When is this schindig going down?
TIME: EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT - the meet starts at 7:00pm, and ends when the last person leaves - Top-Foods is open 24 hours!
Where is it happening and how do I get there?
LOCATION: Auburn Top Food and Drug, the directions are on the webpage!

We've done our best at holding the meet location in Tacoma (namely Krispy Kream - ), but there are entirely too many idiots, ricers, cops, etc. to deal with, even on a good night...

Even when we coordinated with Krispy Kream and the Tacoma Police department, there were still incidents that occurred that forced us off the premesis.

So now, thanks to local authorities, as well as the Management of the Top Foods in Auburn, we now have a location that will be open 24 hours and grant us access for as long as we want for our local tuner meet needs.

Saturday the 17th will be our first meet, rain or shine. if its raining, just park the ride, and come inside to have some coffee - Contribute to the business, and discuss your future build, your past experiences, or maybe your war stories from your recent deployment to Iraq (VETERANS ARE MORE THAN WELCOME!).

Contact me for more details, or send me your email to get on our weekly mailing list. All information we recieve will be kept private and free from unwanted junk emails.

Cant wait to see some RX-8's out there reppin for the NW!

one other thing - Rice is strongly discouraged - if you need a definitive term behind the meaning of Rice - here is a link from WIKIPEDIA

I know the RX-8 guys/gals have good taste in their modifications, so this isnt a big concern from our staff in regards to this forum - its just a precaution to give people a heads up.

Thanks -

Are we talking about white rice or brown rice? Fried rice or steamed rice? Suprisingly I saw Tops selling "fried brown rice." I might try it though since I haven't actually tasted fried brown rice (if I do decide to stop by and check you guys out - depending on the weather, of course).

Best wishes.

great meet to the few RX8 folks that showed up.

Had around 40-50 cars show altogether, and 'TADA' zero rice...

we'll have Sykarts scheduled next week and we hope to get discounted rates, and Kart racing (and competition setup) til the place closes down -

We'll be sure to update everyone on here as the time passes by -

Hope to see more people out next week - take it easy -

I went, and stay for two hours. They were WRX, Civic, Lancer, GTI, CRX, Ford Lightning, 350Z, A4 and my RX8. Not a bad meeting, but some body could have been in charge and maybe greet everybody as the came in, I felt lost for a moment or two, but I did find a friend from 1/23 inf. ft. lewis that come back from iraq, that I have not seen in a year. I will be there next week. hope to see more RX8 there, next time!!!

^^^ Sorry about that - I was doing my best to meet and greet everyone - Myself and Dave will do our best to extend an open hand next week. I'll be sure to have a small gathering next time around 7:30 to get everyone on the same page.

I should have the sticker designs drawn up for next week, and the coffee stop should be opened a bit later than 8:00pm.

Everyone was cool, and I met quite a few new folks out there - It would be awesome to get the RX-8's involved even more!

We'll be meeting up in Tacoma near the I-5 entrance off of the Tacoma Mall BLVD and 56th Street exit to caravan up to the meet - Krispy Kream isnt the greatest spot for a link up location.

I'll post up directions as soon as I get the exact address info.

thats the plan as of right now - meet up at top foods, then whoever wants to goto the Go-Kart track is more than welcome! I believe we'll have about 2-3 hours of racing left for the night, then the track will close down around 11 or so.

Was suprised to see a good turn out last night. Lots of of Subies and Evos, but there were also a nice assortment of other cars (MR2 Toyota, G35 Infinities, S2K Honda). I was the sole RX8 there and was hoping to see other 8's, but ah well . Was really a blast to see a genuine JDM Subie and that supercharged G35 Infinity (hope to see those cars again in the future meets). Good people that night, awesome networking and will be looking forward to more of this meet. Excellent job, Corey.

By the way it was nice to meet you and your S2K, Mike.

Thanks Alot for coming out Proxi! I don't think I got a chance to chat with you this week but I work with Kory to make this happen. Look forward to seeing the car again next week

We are putting together a Photo shoot next week as well, we will be using the pictures to advertise to vendors, and sponsors alike. If you have any interest in participating than come on out and check it out!

Also, to Mike with the S2K that came out from this board, I tried to sign up on S2KI.com and post a thread there like we talked about but it wouldn't let me start a new thread. I assume there is some sort of post or time minimum associated with it but if you felt like posting something about the meet I will be more than happy to Field the questions, My name is the same on that board as it is here. (it might be 07BlueWRX, cant remember, too many forums!)

once again thanks to the RX-8 Participation sofar, really look forward to seeing more of you out there this week!

Dave

Hehe, it started snowing here at Snohomish at around late afternoon. We were coming home from Lynnwood in our Odyssey when I saw a nice blue vette getting stuck in the snow. My wife and I can hear his two big rear tires helplessly screeching while we were waiting in a stop light intersection. Poor guy. Continuing home we also saw a G35 coupe stuck on a curb and a tuned up Honda Civic that got hit by a Ford F150. Some of the cops even shut down a few uphill routes in our area.

Yup, after seeing those and the snow still falling down in our area I decided not to go and just let my 8 be cozy in the garage (even though I just installed new tires on my baby - Toyo Proxes4 245/40-18).

Was a good night to play a few Halo3 maps and Mass Effect on the 360 though.

^^ speaking of which, we started a big thread over on the suby threads about gamers... thinking about renting a hotel business room, gettins some tables and chairs and going all out for a huge lan/wan tournament there...

... something different I think - 20 x-boxes/ps3's, and a few dedicated PC servers running Half-life2, COD4, Halo3, Guitar Hero, and a few other games people wanna play - hosted by a large gaming Biz of course so we dont pay anything... and goin at it!!...

just a thought ...
