Arrow Shamrock Shuffle II - 30 Mar 08

The Shamrock Shuffle II finds us chasing leprechauns north into Skagit County. We'll meet up near Burlington for a loop through Concrete and Darington in pursuit of that slippery Irishman and his Pot O' Gold.

Unfortunatly I'm busy that weekend but I just want to know how can you schedule a drive so close to Chuckanut drive and not include that in the trip.

Hey guys, I am a newbie to the site. However, I am curious as to what this Shamrock Shuffle is all about? I am interested because it is somewhat in the area where I live.

Shamrock Shuffle is just the name for the March drive. Kristopher plans and leads monthly drives around Washington - sometimes north, sometimes south, around the greater Seattle area (Janaury drive), we've gone as far west as Pacific Beach on the coast, and out to Mt. Rainier, etc. My personal favorite is the Whidbey drive in June. All drives are on twisty backroads as much as possible - driving "spiritedly". In the summer we usually do a pot-luck BBQ for lunch, in the winter we stop at a restaurant. They are a blast!

As far as doing Chuckanut Drive - Kristopher may do the drive we did last year that included it. The problem we ran into then was a lot of traffic and it wasn't as fun as we thought it would be. Dunno if the plan is to do it at a different time of year to avoid traffic?

I highly recommend these drives. With the exception of the last few months and conflicts with my schedule, I've gone on most of them.

Well, Linda hit all the nails squarely on the head.

Chuckanut is fun on weekdays, but on weekends, it's pretty tough to play there. It's just too scenic and too accessible. Makes for too many tourists.

I plan on scouting the route sometime in the next couple of weeks, and will chose a resteraunt that's reasonably on route when I do.

I try to mix things up, but the Whidbey Island run is sort of an anniversary celebration, as we started these drives in June of 06 on the Island. I also try to give the drives a name that sounds a bit more fun than "Another group drive." Makes it easier to tell your non-driving friends and family that you already have plans. "It's the Shamrock Shuffle, how can you ask me to skip that." . If it's got a name, they'll understand.

So true. I guess my perception of Chuckanut is a little skewed since i grew up about 2 miles south of the good part -- I could hit it up whenever i wanted. I've only driven it once since i got the 8, and it was at night, i think i saw one car. It was awesome.

My grandfather grew up in Mt. Vernon. Apparently, one night with about 11 kids crammed into his 32 Pierce Arrow Sportsman Coupe, he took one of the curves a little too fast and left a gouge in the concrete wall that remains to this day.

Did you know Chuckanut was originally built with prison labor? This was at time when we actually punished people for misbehaving rather than sending them to a country club for rehabilitation (I know, it's not quite like that, but they do get cable TV and wages for their labor). Cons sentanced to Hard Labor = reduced construction cost while providing them with skills they could use once they got out. They had to dangle from the cliffs while weilding jack hammers and setting explosives.

devitapd, congrats on the new car.

:D Darren needs to find a baby carrier that fits the passenger seat of the 360 so he can get the kid addicted at an early age.

He needs a booster seat for Cameron, who is 4, then he can pass that on to the new baby (who they know is a boy) when he's old enough. That's assuming Cameron will give up his seat in the Ferrari Cameron is a Cars (movie) nut, so that might be difficult!

Yeah. Check it out. Now I know why the back end sits so low.

One of these days, Anibal, you're going to figure what employees are for and let them do the work while you MANAGE.

Hey All,

Jen had my 8 detailed as a birthday present. The guy did an amazing job with it! He came to our house and did all the work in our driveway in about 5 hours.
I'll have to show it off to everyone on Sunday next week.

If anyone is interested I highly recommend this guy.

His website is:
http://www.dynamicdetailing.net/

Kris I mentioned your website and drives and and advertising opportunities. He seemed interested. I'll pass you his card at the meet.
