Sykart Racing League

Just a quick note to those that might be interested, Sykart has open registration for their adult league. The season starts Feb, 2nd and is every Tuesday night for eight weeks. They have limited slots open so if you'd like to do this sign up asap.

I'm going down there today to sign up.

Just go on down and sign up. It's $25 to register, then it's either $25 or $30 to race each night. 1 race is 40 laps (when we went, one session was about 16 laps) with one required pit. Final practice by 7:15 wieghed in by 7:30, and first race is at 7:45. There are 4 possible races if enough people sign up (I think you only participate in one race.) The race is won by position with bonus points given for fast laps. 7 rounds are tallied up with one throw out race, point leader for the season takes the prize. I don't know how many places win a prize, but there is an awards ceremony (no idea on what kind of award you win.)

There are limited positions open, but there is still room to register. The first race night is on Tuesday Feb. 2 and then the next 7 Tuesdays after that with the final shootout on Mar 30th. I'm registered and ready to go. They race both 6.5 and 9hp karts in the same race. I'm thinking about going down in the next few days and trying to qualify for the 9hp kart.

I hope this answers everything, if not ask and I'll respond as soon as I can. It'd be fun to get as many people as we can and have an 8 invasion!!!

1st race 7:45
2nd race 8:15 (if enough people)
3rd race 8:45 (if enough people)
4th race 9:15 (if enough people)

I ran into Davin last night when going with Hansen. He said there're a bunch of 110lbs teenagers running 33 second laps.

That's ok that they weigh 110, you get weighed in before the event and they have a light and heavy division. For the light division they cap it at 180 lbs. and what ever difference, they add weight to the kart, which is what those two metal posts are behind your head (I personally think they look like you'll be impailed(sp) on them if you crash bad enough). So all the light guys will be at 180 lbs. No advantage, except they have mad skillz, and I suck haha

Hey sorry I've been absent on this league. I don't think I can sign up to race every week on Tuesday like that. I just like to run for fun or with people I know.

No big deal, my days off just happen to work out so I'm going to give it a shot. I think I'm the only one signing up. I got two laps under 35.5, just three more to go before the league starts so I can race the 9hp karts

I raced my first race last night. I was surprised to see the ages of the drivers. I'd say I was right in the middle. I was afraid it was all going to be 16-18 year olds. There are some really good drivers, some own there own karts (not used at sykart) but full racing suits and all. I started 7/8 and finished 6/8. It's a real race so you finish by place and not fastest lap. It's a 40 lap race and the last 10 laps are almost painfull. I need to get in shape haha.

I finally qualified for the 9hp karts a couple hours before the race. My best time in the 6.5hp was a 34.9. During the race (in the 9hp) I got a 34.518, which was the slowest fastest lap time of the race haha.

Yea I did have fun. If you ever get a stretch of time to join a league you should try it (it's an 8 week season.) I think they have several a year. So far everyone is driving nice, it'll be interesting to see how more aggressive people drive towards the end. Next week they reverse the track and the order of finish so I'll start 3rd. I'm hopng to finish at least 6th. We'll also run with the exibition class this time too. They are the people that can't complete the season and the ones that haven't qualified on the 9hp karts. They ran with the heavy class last week.
