Wink Time to earn our cars some respect

Shoot, try 3000+ pounds without the driver. Without much grunt, they can't move as swiftly as there owners would have people believe. If you have any sort of forced induction on a rotary, you should have zero fear of the RX-8 on the open road. Now getting one of these people that have the new 8 actually pull over and chew the fat with you about 7's is another story.

We really need to drive with these guys when the weather allows

Cool Duh....

Does the word 'duh' ring a bell?

Why would an '8 driver want to road race a blown RX-7? Seems like suicide to me....

Every RX-7 pilot has been keeping current with the specs and the horsepower issue...even the most obtuse would know that the stock '8 (and there are no other kind) would be no match for a 7.
Do please credit us with the knowledge that it would be a very one sided competition......

So many threads are wasted over at the RX-7 forums, on how easy it is to prey on the '8......all of us know that if the rotary has any future at all, it will be in an '8.

Please don't come on with your six hundred horsepower (and only blown up twice) and your streetkill stories......we ALL know that they are just the dying twitches of a ten year old car, and that the real stories have yet to be told long after the '7 is gone....
.................................................. ..................................................

That said however, I feel that EVERY RX-8 owner owes a debt of gratitude to '7 owners. They have achieved a LEGENDARY reputation in the field of modding and racing.....

People see my '8 and immediately know it is the successor to a DYNASTY of high powered/turbo'ed/tire burning street screamers....the implication is clear and immediate - WOW! that must be one mean ride!

Without even turning the key, we are already striking 'fear & awe' into hot car fanatics.

We are not your competition, we are your NEXT generation.....

I dont think its about fear. Its not about them and us. Its about the relationship the two cars share.

Id love to drive up with some sevens sometime however.

Ill be sure to post the next time I either do a run or go to b willow since california speedway doesnt seem to be doing speed trials anymore. Id be more than happy to see some sevens come on up. Hell id spend much of my time admiring the passion that went into each individual one. Ill also be asking questions I think lots of them lol. I would not be racing against the seven, I tend to race against myself and learn the lines of the course and how the car reacts to it.

You are correct at this moment we dont have a chance in hell to beat a seven and thats the way it should be at this time. I dont really think about that though, I simply have a plan that I see for my car and if a seven kicks my **** Ill probably be too busy admiring the torque the sound etc.

Hell my bud with his supercharged RSX will kick my **** to kingdom come too and thats how it should be at this time too. hehe doesnt mean me and my bud with his NA GSR wont be doing speed trials with him because hes gonna kick our **** on tape lol.

I like it when the bar is raised by a car I can respect and I definately respect the seven.

I have a second gen 7. It's a great car. It's N/A, and the only place she struggles to keep up with the turbos is on those incredibly boring straight stretches. Even then, most of the cars out there aren't as fast as their owners like to think. I've been on a few drives with other 7 owners. I don't suggest drag racing, even if your car has 10000HP, but we have to show up for the drives. The biggest complaint a couple years ago was about the 3rd gen owners not coming out to play. Stock for stock, we're faster than all but the 3rd gen, and we're close there. Of course we're all waiting another 35K miles before we really go on the attack with power. The point is, we obviously haven't been out to play with the other rotary children often enough.

I think the problem is more there are hardly any RX-8 owners around that are on these message boards. This summer when we have some events here in the Seattle area I am sure there will be some RX-8s showing up.

I am planning on attending the the Apple Blossom event. Otherwise I don't end up on the westside often except when I am heading to Vancouver,BC. Anyway maybe we will see some of the 7's at the event.

Hopefully a lot of RX-8 owners will show up at Apple Blossom. I have never been to a meet up, gathering, or club event where certain categories or models weren't welcome. All rotary powered vehicles are welcome. It's all about the engine, not the platform it's in!!
