Its official. I am moving to Richland in July. We will be driving my wife's minivan and my 8 will go in the moving van along with all of the furniture.
One thing that I noticed when we visited for an interview a few weeks ago was that there do not seem to be ANY bumps on the roads, with the exception of some nasty parking lot entrances with high curb angles. I think my 8 is going to be very happy with this move. (We won't be complaining about 300 days of sunshine, either.)

We will be arriving in the area in 1 week. After visiting twice and finding my way around with awful rental cars, I am really looking forward to having the 8 there. I will be making a run up to Leavenworth as soon as possible!
I took the highway (I-184?) through Yakima up to Ellensburg but there is a road that follows the Selah river that looks awesome on google maps. Is it i good shape?
FYI, my standards for "in good shape" are probably looser that anyone around WA since I am coming from the pothole capital of the world . . . Northeast roads SUCK!

You wont find any highway, or I never have, in Washington that has potholes. You are more likely to find illegals driving like crap in central Washington.
You are in for a shock if you are moving from Maine though, the Tri Cities is a desert

SR-821/Canyon Rd?
Last time I ran it, years ago, it was in good shape, and a blast to boot.
Hell, I may have to use my off-work-early time on Firday to pre-run the July TWR route so I can free up Saturday to hit that road.
Decisions decisions.
Welcome to the GPNW.

i just moved from Kennewick, Wa to Hillsboro, Or Tri-cities is a perfect place to retire, houses are cheap and theres not awhole lot of traffic. Just watch out for those pesky PasCo and Richland cops theyll pull u over for anything.

I live in walla walla which is 45 min. east-ish of the tri-cities and there are a lot of good roads around here. and a TON of wineries, if your into that kind of thing.
Oh and count me in on the road tour.

I am here an getting settled. So far, I have not had a chance to venture too far. I have a major professional exam to study for coming up, but at some point would like to get an RX8 gathering together. How about the end of October for a drive into the blues?
No cop trouble yet . . .
Walla Walla wine tour sounds good. I am a fan of Terra Blanca and Barnard Griffin also. My wife is pregnant, so we are building a collection right now. I can only look at it!

if your looking for good roads, the best ones are on the way to portland, or linken city.......dont know how u spell it, if your heading to porland just before u cross the bridge into oregon theres a turn off that will keep you on the washington side of the colombia....its the old highway, and is full of twists and turns at very high elevations above the river.....great veiws, and a few abnormally straight straights for a few miles...then once u cross back to the oregon side later on its boring for quite some time...if going from portland to linken city make sure you go through tillamook, the roads r awesomely curvy and the 8 loves em......

We found Webber Canyon Road out of Benton City today while driving to Terra Blanca. That was pretty good. We'll be headed to Raineer next weekend, but with my wife being pregnant, we'll have to take the CX-7. Bummer, but still fun.

Wow, I checked it out on Google Earth . . . looks like it would make a good loop with Webber Canyon. Follow Clodfelter to Plymouth, then west on W Sellars, north on Travis leads right to Webber canyon. We could return on E Badger Rd/Dallas Rd or follow 224 through W Richland. Should be a fun hour.
