Upcoming track days
Let's try again. There is a Speedware track day August 9th. Anybody interested? Dsmdriver attended one of their days last year and really enjoyed it. You can read his post about it here:

The track days is $210. The info about it is here: http://www.speedwaremotorsports.com/events/
Shaun, you get that new engine yet?

Hey Skinless. The motor should be done today. Lets' see if I can get 1500 miles on it in 9 days. I'm going to say no to anything before end of august because I don't know if I'll have the engine broken in by then. Keep me posted though and I'll let you know when she's ready for action.

Hey Skinless.
I figure it's time to take her out for a good workout. When are the next track days at Pacific Racway?
I just checked out the Alfa club and they have an event on 9/13. Unfortunately I have friends in town that week. Any other events you know of?

September isn't looking that good for me, but I may be able to find a day to make it. BMW has a day on the 8th (Saturday), Speedware on the 12th, Alfa on the 13th. There's a also a day at Portland on the 14th. It's a long drive, but the cheap track days make up for the extra gas. It's only $130 for that one. I'll have to look at my schedule and see if anything fits.
So how's the new engine running?

Yeah I've kinda given up on putting on that many miles on it before I start getting serious. I don't drive it to work so I only put a few miles on it on the weekend. I've put 300 on it since the engine replacement and good gawd is it strong!
I can't help but laugh when she gets right around 6K and just starts tearing away. I think I could do PIR on the 14th. My friends will be gone by then so I could do the trip down. I should probably change the oil before I go I suppose.

PIR's a very fun track; it's safer than PR, if not as interesting in some ways; also more "professional," in the sense of having one well-paved surface instead of the mish-mash of surfaces PR has, and having things like braking markers. And CSCC runs a fine track day/school. It's a long day, doing the round trip and a full track day all in one day, but it's always fun to take in a new track.

Easily the best $100.00 you can spend on your car.
FYI you'll need to buy some nomex racing gloves. I bought mine from Saferacer.com for around $60.00. You can get pricier ones if you want but my Shift gloves are fine for me.

Things are starting to look up on the job front, so now I'm really itching to get back to the track. One of my recruiters says a group at MS wants me, but he doesn't have the numbers yet. If that one pans out, I'll be able to take the bus to work and the 8 will be for play (and groceries) only. Of course, if shaun's employer's fresh foods division delivered to my part of Redmond, I wouldn't have to put any non-fun miles on the car.

Good luck Kris! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
taking the bus FTW!! Nothing better than reducing the need for a practical car.
I'll see if I can get someone to make special deliveries to the middle of nowhere just for you.
