Well it's happened =/

Another one bites the dust...I got engaged lol j/k Actually I'm pretty happy about it. Finally happened after dating the future Mrs. on and off for a while. Well that's the good news, the bad news is that I'll have to sell off my beloved 8

She can't drive manual so I gotta move onto a different car with auto and more room for my two dogs, in this case I bought a new '08 Mazda 3 5-door...so at least I'm still in the Mazda family. It's definitely a better drive than any other small car I've been in....but it's still no 8

I know what some of you will say, I could teach her MT. Well I definitely can but with the nature of her job (social work) she'll probably be working somewhere in downtown Seattle. Anyone who's driven around there with a stick knows how much it sucks going up those steep-*** hills Hell even I still have trouble with those once in a while.

We're going down to one car for about a year to divert money more towards reducing the mortgage and getting rid of any remaining credit debt. I'll still be hanging around the forum, the mazda3 forum is pretty dead in comparison.

So I'll be posting an ad up on Craigslist soon and one here, I'm hoping I can find someone who'll take care of my precious as well as I do! Don't want her going to some stranger and then find out a month later that they wrapped her around a telephone pole.

WOW.... Congratulations!!!!!

Bummer about your 8 though, but 3's are cool, esp the 5-door. And I guess we'll never see you on a drive now

I remember the one car days to help with money woes when I first got married back in '84. Still married after all these years...

Good Luck in your new life!

Thanks. Who knows maybe I'll still be able to make it to a drive...I just need to toss in a few things like a better CAI and/or sport exhaust to bump up a few ponies heh

BLASPHEMY! lol

Although I admit she's a more aggressive driver...she's moving here from NYC. Yep, I'm marrying a Queens girl.

That actually might be a better idea...whenever I visit her in NYC I'm pretty much white-knuckled the entire time in her car haha

We actually met in a foreign language program way back in '99 in Seoul. Didn't really talk and get together until '04. It's a long and funny story lol

I guess you gotta have priorities. Though for me, the cars are on the do not touch list.

Congrats.

Oh she already knows it's depressing me to sell my baby and feels pretty bad about it. She actually loves small, fast cars too although her preference is for Subbie WRX's. I've seen pics of the new '09....I prefer my '05. I think it looks nicer because it's a little more straight and streamlined...

Wouldn't sell this car for any other reason than to start off the marriage on the right foot...money's the #1 thing couples fight about right? She promised to give up her (extremely) expensive handbag addiction for a year in return. The good thing is that we have a financial plan for the next year to pay off a huge chunk of the mortgage. After that, I'm free to buy a new car for myself while she gets the 3.

So then the new debate is what I should do then:

#1. Buy a new '09/'10 RX-8
#2. Buy a used mid-'00's RX-8 and learn to mod it
#3. Buy a different car (I was thinking maybe the new Hyundai Genesis coupe)

Gee, does her handbag habit compare to my shoe habit? LOL Which reminds me, I haven't been up to visit and drag you around shopping in nearly a year now!!! I must be slipping!

#4. Hide your current car in a storage unit and work an extra job on weekend mornings, before she gets up, to pay for it.

Or if you want to base your relationship on honesty, see my advice here.

I"m not sure how she'd feel about me cheating on her with a car...probably just a look of or haha Plus I like to sleep in on Saturday morning, I'm a weekend slug.

I'm scared to go near her closet....it's so chock full of clothes and bags that I swear the door latch is going to give. rofl

If you want to come up and drag me shopping BG, you better do it soon because I won't be able to after I'm chained to the floor, I mean married.

I know! And I haven't seen your new condo yet either. I'd love to come shopping, but at the moment I can't drive because of my hand surgery and have at least another full week before I will be able to start trying. If I didn't have to shift it might work, but I don't think I'll be able to steal my mom's CX-7 without my step-dad's head exploding, so she'd have to come shopping with us. That's okay though, because she said she thought you were a real sweety!

I might be able to make it in June assuming I get off disability by the end of this month and back to work so that I have some money again. Of course, I can always come up and make your wife my shopping buddy as it sounds like we have that in common already. We can both drag you around shopping while you trail behind looking ill!

Congrats!

You give up the 8 and she gives up handbag shopping. Sounds like a fair agreement.

Don't worry about selling for the right reasons. The 16x will be along soon enough. I had to sell my FD 10 years ago and now I have a rotary back again and couldn't be happier.

It's better to be financially comfortable. Just make sure she's not adding to the credit card bills while you're trying to subtract.

Yeah she knows how much my 8 means to me, so she's actually agreed to curb her *entire* shopping habit, not just her handbag addiction. So I suppose it's more than fair, especially taking into account the habits being developed in NYC of all places.

I'm more of a common sense guy too...working to get rid of my 2nd mortgage in 2 years, then my overall mortgage payments fall below even the average rents around Bellevue. I can certainly live with that.

Oh and I finally posted in the FS subforum:
https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8s-sale-wanted-43/fs-2005-rx8-gt-titanium-grey-143065/

I actually priced it a bit lower than my price in Craigslist in the hope that I can find another rotary lover to take care of it rather than a complete unknown stranger. Call it an RX8Clubber bonus lol

Congrats man! Marriage is definitely something to be happy about! I'm on my 2nd year and still lovin' every minute of it!

And if she's korean, no wonder she has so many clothes! We're notorious for that.
