Wet Track Day

Here's a video of the wet track day I drove on. I was really nervous driving to the track that day, but I'm really glad I ended up going. I was surprised that I had just as much fun driving slower than I would on a dry track. There was a lot to be learned since all of the mistakes that wouldn't be noticed on a dry track were exposed. Enjoy!

Good stuff Scott. Did you turn off DSC for the oversteer training?

Yes I did. DSC was on the single press for turn 8. It is amazing how much camber is in turn 8. When all the cars were spinning out, the camber in the road kept the car on the track through the turn and didn't spit them off the track. There were only two cars that had their front twos hit the dirt on the inside of the track. I also forgot to turn on the camera for the first pass. I had an almost 360 spin. It was fun hahaha. One Corvette did a 720!

I had DSC fully off for the skid pad. As you can tell, I'm no drifter

Nice, fun stuff. I want to try and go to one of the Porsche schools later this year.

BTW, I think I've settled on keeping my car until the spring and deciding what to do then. In the meantime, I think I'm going to pick up a turbo Volvo wagon to do all the miles on (and to beat Brad at drag races in )

Great video and selection of music.

Skid-pad in the rain would be fun.

I'm still short a tire I'd have to run on the Good Year F1's which I want to last a lot longer.

Discount Tire is going to take at least a few days to get it because they never seem to stock them. I'm also still not sure the rim is OK. Planning on stopping by the Bellevue one on Wednesday though.

Here's a video from a different track day. I had a really fun battle with a 370Z. He could keep up with me the whole track and I would have given him the pass if not for turns 8 and 9. I left him behind through those two turns. After the session he said he was amazed at how much traction I had through those two turns and he thought I drove a crazy line through there. It's different than what is taught in the school.

I only had 1000 miles on the tires so there was quite a bit of squirm in the tires. I didn't realize how much that would affect the hanlding. It was a little unsettling at times.

I was pretty happy though in the second lap. I entered turn 5A at 80 MPH (at least that's the last number that you can read before the steering wheel blocks the speedo.) The video is available in 1080 HD
