I think ULLLOSE is talking about formal SCCA events. From our NW autocross threads, I only have seen a couple people talking about competing in those events.
I've driven in one practice event in Everett, and I'm going to do the Evolution Driving School in Packwood in August.

I've been attending the local events in Everett, although I ended up missing the last one. The first event I ran was an SCCA event, but the amount of actual seat time vs. the time commitment wasn't worth it for me. I'm hoping to make the next Everett event. After my alignment I'm pretty happy with how the RX-8 handles an autocross course.

wish I could say the same about RX8 owners in the Boise area... I'd like to get an RX8, but would be borin racing it alone... all the RX7 owners switched to drag racing and parading for some reason too..... garrr wimps

Very few Seattle area folks drive their RX-8s at autocross or on the track. Coding Paradox just bought one, and he'll be a regular, but there sure aren't many more. I don't fit in ours with a helmet, so I have to be satisfied with autocrossing my S2000.

I used to AutoX back in Ohio and Colorado all the time, but out here I just can't justify 5 hours of driving to get 3 minutes of seat time. I just find lapping days give me so much more for the dollars and energy. They don't satisfy my need to beat everyone though
I never did hear why they moved to Packwood. I'm imagning the conversation went like this: "There are 4 million people in Seattle. Let's see how many of them are willing to drive 200 miles for 4000 feet of speed!"

When I was an intern out here 6-ish years ago, they had stuff at Everett and Kent all the time, so that was my reference to them moving it far away.
Bremerton's still way closer if you take the ferry, and is about 1/2 the distance to Packwood from downtown even if you go around. Road isn't as cool as the one behind Rainer though.
Never been to Packwood, so I can't judge the location. Maybe I'll crawl out of bed at 4am one Sunday and see what it's like.

They still have events at everett, but it's freaking tiny. The miatacross was here yesterday, and I was only a couple seconds off fastest time of the day, with a 50.860, so it's just a small course compared to the stuff at packwood. Usually the everett courses are more like 39-40 seconds, but the miatacross is so windy that it took longer (slow course.)
Come out to packwood this weekend to watch the Prosolo - should be a lot of fun. I've never been to one, but I'm excited as hell about trying this one. Get to get my *** beat by Jason, hehe.

The PIR pro pits and the tri-cites public works station are some of the smallest lots I have ever run in, still was fun.

I ran for the last 2 seasons in my 8 but decided to take a break and get back into motorcycles. The Oregon region needs a larger place run and though Packwood is nice, it's 4 hours each way and that get's hard on the fuel budget. I also ran with the local Salem and Eugene clubs but they also have lots that are too small. Now all I need is my bike and a good twisty bit of road to get my fix....
