This is sounding like a fun drive..how many hours do you think we are looking at with the drive/bbq? I'll see what we are up to, possibly make it down there. add me as a "maybe"

The drive bit takes around 2 hours, maybe more, maybe less.

So, what time should we meet at the Shell Station? I don't know the planned BBQ site so I can't make an educated guess as the when we should meet.

Yeah, I say we do it... It would be a bummer if Fabro can't be there!

Depends on when you want to eat... lunch or dinner.... I think it would take about 45 minutes or so to get from the Shell station to Deception Pass (the way we drive prolly less!), but I'm not sure where the BBQ spot is either.... Sopheak??

This is the location of Oak Harbor Beach.

http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...Beach&qc=Parks

It's pretty easy to get there.

How about meeting at Shell around 10am?

Thanks Sopheak! 10am sounds good to me.

Here's the route I was thinking of for the first leg - from the Shell station to the Oak Harbor Beach... see attached map.

Kristopher - Can you do a similar map to show us where the 2nd leg of the trip is?

I am planning on doing the BBQ. I just can't pass up good food.

As for what to bring, I can do almost anything. Preferably nothing that will spill in the back of the car, but since one 8 will have to do it, I might be willing to make that sacrifice.

Hey guys,

I would be keen to come along to this cruise to meet everyone.
Now that I have my new RX8.
I will bring along some food as well

Looking forward to meeting some car people. Since I got to the US in late 2004 I have had a crap buick and had to sell my RX8 I had in OZ when I moved here. But now I have a new one and need to drive it :D and get back into the scene.

Arrive in Clinton
For those of you not familiar with the area... When we get to Clinton, you have to make a decision - take the ferry from Clinton to Mukilteo, or go back the way you came... (unless you're like Sopheak and Sharkman and you live on Whidbey!). I just checked the ferry rates... For car and driver it's $8.35, there is no charge for carrying a passenger from Clinton to Mukilteo.

If you're planning on stopping to eat with us at Oak Harbor Beach, it's a potluck BBQ - you can bring what you want. If you're looking for ideas, here's what ppl are bringing... so far:

1: Sopheak.Reach - Pancit and Chicken
2: 05TiGr8Lady (Linda) - Plates, Utensils, 2 Salads (potato and something else)
3: Nemesis 8 (maybe) - ?
4: kristopher d - Pkg of Polish Sausages
5: Sharkman - ?
6: e46328 (maybe) - ?
7. blakew15 (maybe) - ?
8: dmp - ?
9: Marquis - ?
10: DragToys - ?
11: patrick_andraste - ?

Since FABRO can't make it and he was going to bring beverages and cups, we need someone to cover those items.

If ppl want to actually BBQ something, we should bring our own hamburgers, hotdogs, buns, chicken, or ???... (we'll have 2 small grills there) OR some of you can bring them.

We could use condiments (ketchup, mustard, etc.), chips, or whatever you think would be good.

I can bring Beverages and cups. Since we are driving, and meeting in a Park, I am assuming non-alcoholic beverages.

I wish I had a grill to bring - my weber won't fit! :D

We might bring a few patties or dogs, as it's looking like My wife and kids will make the journey.

I'm not a fan of a group drive with more than about 5 cars - AND I want to get photos and junk; Can the leader write-in maybe two 'pit stops'? This would allow me to pre-position while the group waited for a few minutes to let brake fluid and tires recover? Maybe something like that??

Cool, thanks Darin!

Me and Kris are bringing small grills. If anyone thinks we need more than that, bring em with ya.

This'll be my first meet with over 5 cars driving (if everyone makes it), so it'll be interesting...

Yeah, bring families!! I think one other person said they'd bring their wife and dogs. My brother might show up too.

Hmmm.... I'm thinkin about the first leg... There are some sweepers along the way and two 90 degree turns just before La Conner (if we get off Best Rd. and go to 20 that way, which is my preference... I like the 90's). If you went ahead, I'm sure you'd find something from a photographic perspective that might work.

Sopheak -- How about the park that is just before Deception Pass? Is it Rosario Park? Would that work as a photo op? We'd have to park though, but maybe we could get all the cars in the shot?

Kris and Sopheak -- Any ideas about the 2nd leg, in addition to the Beach?
